Model T Ford - Bendix repair and hand brake adjustment.

Ғылым және технология

Accidently left the ignition advanced before starting the engine. A broken Bendix bolt was the result. Also needed to adjust the rear drum brakes.

I think you’ve got a Canadian-built car there. Our vehicles were built for the British Empire and could be completed as either LH (like in Canada and the US) drive or RH drive like your vehicle for the UK, Australian, New Zealand, India and British Possessional markets. ….and yes, getting at the Bendix screws is a PITA on LH drive cars - I re-seal mine the other day.

Yes, it's Australian assembled from Canadian parts.

I appreciate how difficult it is to work on a bendix let alone film the procedure. Would be better filmed by a second person in the shade and with a light.

Regrettably, I have very limited resources and am not a professional producer. Not sure where the 2nd person would come from to act as cameraman, and having to work on the driveway was unpleasant enough without worrying about lighting. I agree it's not the best video, but I'm sure one of the other Model T content producers have covered the topic more professionally.

That model T steering wheel and the pedals are on the right. Is it a British or Canadian T?

…yes, a Canadian built car but for service in Canada, they were completed as left-hand drive just like in the US. The distinguishing feature of our vehicles was that they were built with two doors - a left and a right. US Model Ts only had a right hand side door and the driver would enter and slide over to the left side to drive.

Nice basic conceptual approach to an electronic ignition, however, use of 4 Hall Sensors is a very poor choice for a 4 cylinder electronic ignition fire control system because each sensor has a different trigger threshold which contributes to ignition timing variation . That imposes corresponding degradation in engine performance. Been there, done that in the evolution of a truly high performance electronic ignition fully integrated within the original footprint of a Vintage Model T ignition system without any changes to the car or wiring. www.modeltetimer.com Another detail of interest is it is protected by US patent 8662058

Your E-Timer is running like a champ on my T. Best accessory I’ve installed on it. The smoothness and increase in low end power make it a joy to drive.
