I love the attention to detail, showing the dirt and grime around the couplings, and the combination of some rolling stock in blue, and other coaches in blue and white. The station background and buildings make it look like somewhere on Southern Region, on one of the suburban lines out of London.

I am a bit late, but I try to keep up with questions (I am co-owner of Shelvington and do all the painting). Your assessment is spot on. Its a work of fiction but it's supposed to be in the Guildford area circa 197, it's London Terminus would be Waterloo.

All very nice. Shelvington is my personal favourite, it's got the grimy 80s feel.

I agree. By far and away the most evocative of layouts on show.

Absolutely brilliant.....detail and weathering of trains. My only criticism is that the coaches dont have the consatena walkways between them that join them together .Apart from that top marks

Hampshire 2H (Modified Bachmann), Tadpole 3R (Scratchbuilt/kit?) & Mid Sussex 3D in Blue 1st class in centre car (Scratchbuilt/kit?). Also EMU's ex Newcastle 2EPB with larger Brake/Guardsvan than standard SR variant (modified Bachmann in Blue/grey) Coupled to normal 2EPB in Blue (modified Bachmann). 4VEP in Blue/grey (modified Hornby). All of which I used to drive once upon a time....

Shelvington (1970-80's) P4 gauge is rather nice, even has a good representation of one of those ghastly BR cost cutting "Clasp" platform buildings (Fleet Stn I think still has one !). Having driven most SR DEMU's & EMU's (for BR) I can't stand the model sound as it doesn't sound anything like the real thing to me, and doesn't keep up with the models speed ! Note: The 3R Tadpole unit & the 3D Mid-Sussex DEMU units are most likely scratchbuilt. Also the ex Newcastle 2EPB which has a larger brakevan area (extra window in van) than the original Southern Region type also seen coupled together, possibly modified Bachmann? The units also appear to have been fitted with (Buckeye) Kadee couplings, much more realistic. Maybe the work of the well known Dave Smith Carshalton & Sutton MRC who virtually mass produced scratchbuilt BR(SR) diesel and electric units ???

I am a bit late, but I try to keep up with questions (I am co-owner of Shelvington and do all the painting). Funny you mention Fleet. It's what it's based on but it's a mirror image as it fitted better into our design. I see where you are going with the sound and being a ex-driver it never will live up. What is missing is the bass. Speaker physics will never allow that (it would also be deafening lol) so it can only ever be approximation, same with the software trying to match movement to sound. Tadpole is a kitbash of a Bacmann, though very little left of it the sides are brass. The 3D is entirely our own all etched brass. The ex Newcastle (well spotted most don't know what that is) I think is Bachmann modified. All our own we don't belong to a club. We have completed a 4COR now, it's here if you are interested: facebook.com/shelvingtonandrydeshill

Why does everything sound like a HAP unit, even the electrics?

I think you mean 2H/3R/3D DEMU's !!! 2HAP's were "Kent Coast" 2-car semi-fast EMU's which Bachmann have been threatening to produce for a few years !

I am a bit late, but I try to keep up with questions (I am co-owner of Shelvington and do all the painting). Nothing fully electric has sound, there wouldn't be any point. Some are both (electro-diesel) and they might sound the same. Problem is very few of these exist now and some of them do not at all so the sound can't be recorded. The guys who make sound files can only use something that is likely to have sounded very similar, if no recordings exist.
