Model Railway 09 A Paint Job & Turnout Servo Drive
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
We experimented with several rail bed and ballast options. We don’t plan to ballast the tracks 100%, which we know looks best, but we’re not that much into scenery and 100% ballasting is going to be a whole lot of work. We think we found a reasonable good looking compromise that’s a lot less work and which also doesn’t require a second layer of cork under the tracks to elevate it.
The only thing needed is to paint the cork in a dark brown / rusty color, to which later maybe some spots and streaks of a darker almost black color can be added to taste. So … that’s what has been done past week, the cork has been painted with a Palissander stain.
The first track pieces and turnouts have been placed too, accurate to the mm. The video shows how we drive the turnouts with a servo motor mounted on an aluminium U profile.

Hi Rudy, The baseboards look good. I used the same method to mount some of my servos but I found after awhile of use they would start wiggling out of the channeling (Maybe mine was too big for them?) Anyway if you ever have the same issue I found gluing them in using some Copydex glue made them solid as a rock. Cheers
Hi Rudy, Great episode, much appreciated. While the mounting method has changed slightly since your original layout, I’m interested in the actual servo, are you still using the TowerPro SG90 analog type or similar? Best regards Stanley

Haha, yes, the aluminum strip is a big step up from the wood block and plastic bag closing clip. :) The servo indeed is a standatd TowerPro SG90

I love the aluminium strip, allows for accurate changeouts if all built to a fixed design. Thanks for the speedy reply, much appreciated, looking forward to the next episode
hallo Rudy, is dat 3d print houdertje ergens te krijgen ? dan kan ik er ook 1 printen !
