Model of the Colosseum
This was a model of the Colosseum that I made for a school history project. It includes the process of the making of the model and close-ups of the final project. Hope you like it! It took me 10 - 11 hours!

Fantastic work mate..just the thing i was looking for for my kid's school project
thanks it really helped and I am also finding something like this for my history project, thanks again.
Really nice scale model!
It's very good but we haven't the right measurment for the circles ,for the arches and for the stairs ...
The circles are cut out from whatever material you are using. Each circle will have a hole in it, each hole will increase in size to create the slanting down effect of the Colosseum. The stairs are also made from the material you are using, and like I said previously, are folded like a paper fan. Fold the edge down, flip it over, fold, flip, etc. Again, as I said before, the doors (arches) are cut out from long strips of paper, the length of the circumference of your circles. Hope that helps! :)
what material is that?
This is amazing!
thanks, this was really helpful, but can you please make the same video but one with you making it step by step
Like Maccas, I'm lovin it
THis is fantastic! My boys love this... we are studying Rome at the moment and stumbled up on this. Well done... we're going to give it a try.
Looks really cool!! :)
Awesome Job!
Amazing!
;D welcome to youtube ♥
hey is it possible that i can tell me the measurement for the circles
How did you make the inner part in the end like that?
love it!! it looks hard though
How did you get the long strip with the arches to attach to the circle? Mine won't stay.
it is so cool i am using it as a project!
what color would you recommend painting it
Thanks for your idea
now how do u make it?
What are those strips that you have holding up each layer ?
wow nice model
Very sorry for the late reply. First, cut out 5 circles, all the same size, however big or small you want it to be. Leave 1 circle as it is, and take the next one and cut out a small circle. Take the next one and cut out a bigger one, and so forth. To create the doors, cut out arch shapes from long strips of paper. The stairs are stretched trapeziums, and are then folded like a paper fan. Stick everything together with tabs as if you were making a cake. Have fun making it with your daughter!
You use a small piece of paper (the same height as the strip) with a tab on the side and one on the bottom. You stick the tabs to the strip and the circle, and it'll stay!
How did u put the arches on and how did you make them
omg how did y do that that is really cool
The diameter is 30cm, and the height is approximately 11.5cm. The bottom three layers are 2.5cm while the top one is 4cm. The circumference of the circles is 94.25cm.
Omg Its So Nice MAking A Model So Like Yea Wish I COuld Steal It From Yew ;P
amazing
what kind of martiel did you use?
Yes, you could use paper. Maybe a slightly thicker paper like printing paper would be better. Normal paper would work just as well, but the overall model would be more fragile than if you were to use cardboard. Have fun making it!
Good job
Which kind of cardboard did you use? Also what did you make the arches if it is paper which kind? Where can I find all these materials

Jas Thind It’s called Bristol Board.
thanks
I like it is simple to do and very cute or creatibo so to speak
this helps me a lot
Thanks very much for your reply!
The main material that I used was cardboard that I bought from Riot Art and Craft. You can purchase them in giant pieces. I also used these stick-like materials, a bit like matchsticks without the head for the detail on the top layer. The black base is optional, though I would recommend it, and is a hard foam-like board. Glue, scissors, a scalpel and double-sided tape were the tools that I used. A ruler, pencil and rubber is also necessary for measurements, etc. Hope that answers your question!
what were the size of the arches
😍😍
what materials are used
awsome
Cool Thanks!!!
con que material es
how can u make it smaller i need one that is 18 inches
Where did you use the matchsticks?

He/she used it as supports on the outer wall without any arches I think.
What are the dimensions? For instance the height of each of the layers of arches (floors) and the diameter and circumference of the circle.
How did you make the arches stick to the circle?

Basically, you have a little piece of paper with two tabs. They aren't on the same side, nor opposite each other. So for example, you would have one on the left, and one on the bottom. Put double-sided tape on the tabs, and then stick one to the gap between the arches, and one on the cardboard circle it rests on.
would it be possible to make it from paper
I'm not very sure how big the pieces of cardboard were. But I think they may have been a metre long. It was like cardboard paper, not as weak as paper but not as strong as cardboard. So a slightly thicker version of paper. Also, very sorry but the Colosseum was a one off project, so I don't have any instructions or anything.
measurements? of the circles??
what is i that you used to make it ?
Ninja Tuna!!!
love it but need the materials, am going to use it for homework, for my school

I got the cardboard and little sticks from Riot Art & Craft. I already had double-sided tape, but I'm pretty sure you can buy it at Officeworks or the like. I'm not sure about the foam base though; I just found it lying around the house.
hmm...your comment is a tad bit confusing, cut out circles out of what, cardboard? and keep making it smaller on each layer.. what are the stairs made from, how did you layer it? What about the arches or windowed wall, how did you make that
Whats the materials???
omg i love ma self and ma self and ma self and ma self even more lol (nothing to do with the colosseum
but how do you make it?

How to make
Shrink all measurements down by ratio :)
Our daughter would like to duplicate your project. Do you have step by step instructions? If so, could you email them?

I'm really sorry, but I don't have step by step instructions. Though it may be a little hard to understand, I've tried my best to explain the making process, and they should be in the replies to other people. If you have further questions, feel free to ask!
