Until now, I did not understand the usage of Polyurethane foam. For years I had been using the foam board from my local lumber store for all my carving. Now I know the difference. Thanks for these helpful tips.

I have yet to master making anything decent from foam....but I keep trying!!! BTW The manufacture that makes Balsa Foam is just mile from my house....but they will not sell direct. They throw away more than I could use....but dumpster is inside a fence. Once there was a blob of foam almost the size of a compact car.....foam for life if I could have gotten it! Thx

Sweet job Dave. And your suggestions for hollow interiors fit the bill.

Oh my goodness thank you. I've been really envying other countries carveable xps foam and started seriously considering trying to do a special order for ultradense xps insulation (at a couple hundred dollars). This looks perfect, I'll give it a shot.

Just ordered some of the carving foam from Amazon. Never carved it before but could use some chimneys and retaining walls. Thanks on how to.

Thank you for the tutorial AND the link to the carving foam! I've been trying to find where to source balsa/yellow foam and had not had any luck. I sure appreciate the link!

Dave, I doubt that an Outhouse would ever be built from stone, as when the hole gets filled up, it would be a good idea to dig a new hole and move the Outhouse over that new hole in a new location!

Dave, Thanks for the info. Searched for Gold Foam but not much luck. Checked Amazon and saw some choices but not sure what would be similar to what you showed. Like your channel, hit the Subscribed button. I'm doing Marklin HO scale. Concepts are the same. Thanks,

Have you ever used textured rollers for creating stone/brink walls? The gamers use this technique.
