Marketing managers are well aware decisions are made every day based purely on images, candidates are running for public office dyeing their hair not only to run, but to win and maintain that office, television journalists are the most outrageous practitioners of that practice that I have liken to ‘appearance journalism’, a quick look see of some reoccurring images of some journalists have never been seen with even a hint of gray hair, and yes, their careers have been long assured and continued thanks to ours and their sense of vanity, an unattractive cat will catch as many mice as the most beautiful ones, I think, or would a mouse refuse to be caught by an ugly cat? Perhaps. Please call me old fashioned, it has always been my contention that personal enhancements has always been within the domain of the entertainment industry, not in professions that are supposed to be deeply depended on integrity steeped in public policies and news and information, once that invasion is complete, like the question raised in the game show, “who can you trust?” Are we more accepting of news and information from a young blond dye head female reporter than an old gray-haired male, will that news become stale and useless by the appearance of whom delivers it? If that’s true, then we must put a stop to every current news production before its aired.
