I don't typically back step with the TIG, but everybody has their own way that works for them! If I can't get in behind to work the panel after I'll skip around and keep it cooler, but with this panel I was able to just run the whole weld and hammer it out after.

Nice work and good presentation! The heat affected zone of your welds looks pretty small. Looks like you are using pulse tig. Could you please describe your settings and whether you had to hammer out a lot of shrinkage? Thank you.
@lakeviewfab7796
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! I wasnt using pulse with the TIG, just a nice quick weld. Used .030 Mig wire as a filler on a super tight gap. There was definitely some hammering out the shrinkage after, but with the heat control of the TIG it wasn't too bad!

What amperage did you have your tig welder set to, a what size tungsten and filler rod did you use?
@lakeviewfab7796
Жыл бұрын
Amperage was likely around 80 amps, but with the feathering on the foot pedal it's hard to say where I was actually welding at. Tungsten was 3/32 and I was using .030 Mig wire as filler.
