Great video! As a first time modder, this video was one of the best tutorials. I literally only watched this and one other video and did no other research and somehow managed it. I wanted to share a few hiccups I had along the way that the video did not address for anyone potentially having similar issues. Making holes for screws after tape mod: she forgot to do this and did it off screen as mentioned in subtitles. To do it yourself, poke holes through the tape from the top with a needle to mark where the holes are. Then take your screw driver and pierce through the marks you made on the tape from the back. Or if your screwdriver is thin enough, simply pierce through directly from the top. I unluckily got a board that was a super tight fit. It took immense strength to pull it out even with screws removed. My only tip is, focus on lifting the left side without yanking the cables. Once that's out, you can easily lift the right and disconnect cables. If you ONLY want to tape or foam the bottom, you can just remove caps/switches around the 9 screws and lift it up. Screws located ESC, LEFT CTRL, F6, SPACEBAR, RIGHT SHIFT, F12, NUM *, NUM +, NUM 0 NEW RK100s come pre foamed. The easiest way to tell if you have this is to remove the spacebar and see if there's black foam in the horizontal slits.

I just bought the exact same keyboard last week and thought I would do some mod as well. Turns out mine comes with base foam and pre-cut foam (between the logic board and top cover) and I don't need to do a thing :D

New batches of RK100 (not sure if all RK Keybs) already have dampening foam between the plate and PCB plus on the case as well. FYI

recently bought an rk100 with red switches. I was actually surprised when I watched this video since mine sounded different. now I know the reason mine sounded like it was modded 😅 thanks for the info.

Hi! I heard that doing the tempest tape mod on keyboards with batteries could be a fire hazard. Have you had any issues or is it safe for this keyboard model?

Hey Megan , If you would like to make it EXTRA THOCCKY , you could try putting in poron foams as the case fill (at the very bottom ) and also PE foams in between the PCB plate and the plate. It will make it sound extra marbly :3 I know that because I have an RK100 as well and it sounds amazing after I changed these! If you want , you could look at switches like the Gazzew Boba U4t ! Welcome to the world of Mechanical keyboard! :3

Can you give a link where you bought the foams? Planning to mod my RK100 as well. Got it the other day, I used a Redragon Kala before. Switched to RK100 for being wireless and compact.

@@Carnophagia1 for the case fill , i think you could google it as poron form and it should appear for your country. For the PE foam , you can find then from packagings for your parcels if you could. If not you might also need to Google. I come from Singapore, so lazada and shoppee has it ! :)

Hi! The one I bought has white backlit but there are some that comes with rgb! Just make sure to check with the seller!

Just got my rk100 but rk red switches are pretty scratchy tho. I’m so excited to mod it to become thocky boi ;)

I've seen some rk100s have 2 USB-A passthroughs to either side of the usbc port, but yours and my newly bought doesn't. Can't find anything about it online either.

I was hoping to see you disconnect the other cable. How do I disconnect PCB cables safely? Last time I disconnected and reconnected my RK100 wouldnt type anymore. But charging icon would light up when plugged Now i have a new RK100 and i want to mod but im in fear of repeating thesame mistake. please help

Came across yours and was surprised that your mom's kb only has white backlight and just the C-type USB port. Mine has RGB and 2 additional USB ports. Any chance that it may be an older model?

Hello! Haven't tried it but I read that you can create macros using its software (applicable for newer versions I think)!

Lucky my RK100 new version already hv pcb foam installed so the typing feel alot of premium than ur.😅😅
