This video was absolutely awesome. I am replaying the game but on PC for first time, so I am used to the Mods screen on the Fallout game itself from past console playthroughs... Im not greatttt with navigating computer files so this really helped. Thank you, you were very thorough and easy to understand!

for reference for anyone curious - the mods at 7:34 without a link are not mods, alot of mods require assets and textures n stuff from the DLCs from the game, and thats what those are, theyre DLCs for the game, so if anyone wants to mod fallout 4 i highly suggest buying the game of the year edition

Do you know how I can fix nexus, I am unable to download anything from it, and half the the buttons don’t even do anything when I click them including the download button.

For some reasons, I download the mods on vortex and its installed and everything all up to day and when i load onto fallout and check mods its enabled and turned on but when i load onto a save or even start a new one no mods are on any ideas?

I hope someone answers this, after when the final version is released, is it still fine if I do the first step last?

What about the Ini stuff is it not required?

I did everything correctly, and the mods are showing up. However, every time I die, it takes me to the main menu. I've done tests (disable and enable certain mods), and it would still kick me into the main menu, with only very few exceptions. Did I do something wrong or is there any way to fix it?

Hello! I followed exactly the steps, but there is a problem, the mods dose work, but it doesn’t show in the game mod list, it only shows the mod which I downloaded directly from the game, for instance the unofficial patch, but if it’s come from vortex, it never shows

I tried to mod the game, had two spazms, passed out, got back up, and gave up. Im sure its easy if you know what your doing, and I dont doubt this guy, but having to install not only Vortex and Extender, but then have to install a ZIP file opener, for me It opened as a Gimp file, and Vortex couldnt mount mods to Fallout... its just so confusing. Maybe im just dumb. Good tutoiral though, im just not cut-out to mod... nor confident enough coz I might break my game or something.

when i download the script extender there is no where for me to open it at, just takes me to a blank page on edge. how do i get 7zip or a file explorer? im lost on the first step

If you really dont want to wait for the script extender update, there is now a downpatcher on nexusmods that will revert the update to the compatible patch.

This came out 13 days ago why is it already not working. I clicked the f4se loader and it gave me an error. saying i was using a newer version of fallout 4. smh

Damn it. It's never as easy as people claim it is. I just tried my first mod (Place Everywhere) and it's not working despite Vortex claiming it is enabled.

Got it to work but now i cant click on anything, im stuck at the character creation screen and i cant select, back out or apply anything

I am working on an update and cannot currently offer a timeline for its availability, nor whether there will be any critical technical issues that would block an update. If not obvious already, this one is going to take much longer than normal. Do not email with questions. Thank you for all of the support! I assume people would rather have me working on the update than making individual responses, but in general thanks for the nice words and support. 2024-04-27: The first step of the update process is done, doing a first pass at updating all of the addresses for the new version of the game. Another long step begins now, validating the addresses and seeing if there were any structure layout changes. This would not benefit from external testing.

What a classic Bethesda move. The game was boring to me the first time I played it and haven't played since. The show came out and I loved it so much it reignited my urge to play fallout again but I thought I should add mods this time for a more personal experience. Bethesda updates for no reason and it breaks just about everything. *sigh* Thanks for working on your mod and i'm excited to jump into the modded world of fallout to see what I may have been missing all theses years. Truly appreciate your hard work!

@@-shockz-7893 The update did make the game look a lot better, over all i dont feel the need to add 50 mods just to make it look good. This saves a lot of work, and you can just jump right into adding guns and new quests. Give the modders some time, you got to wait for these guys to move back into Fallout, a game they probably haven't worked with in years.

@@Bumbaskida To be fair, a lot of the mods people were playing with were just basic fixes that for some reason STILL carried over from last gen that Bethesda just didn't feel the need to patch. IE long loading times.

Unfortunately F4SE does not support the recent Fallout 4 update.

For now turning off Auto-updates for Fallout 4 on Steam should fix the issue should one arise - but it should (hopefully) only be a week or two until most mods are back and running. In the case everything does break... I guess I'll need to remake this if things change - but odds are once everything blows over and mods are updated to work with the latest version the steps in this guide should mostly be the same.

Ftse hasnt got an update yet so this is already out of date unfortunately anyone that's struggling

Honestly vortex isn't that bad ive used both most people who say its bad barely tried it. Not saying mo2 isnt better.

F4SE is the main mod that will break with the update. Most likely this should be fixed (hopefully) in a week or two. Installing the game now and pausing, or downloading an earlier version in the future is the best temporary fix. After the update is released, F4SE and a lot of mods would need an update to be compatible, and from then this guide should continue to be relevant. It's good that we're finally getting a Fallout 4 update, but it's also worrying that things will break for a short while.

I agree, MO2 is easier to micro manage, especially when using a lot of mods. Vortex is okay, if you're using only a handful and it's not as much of an issue. I know there are ways to figure out conflict issues in Vortex, I just for the life of me can't figure the manager out.
