Maybe in real life but the game is programmed so that when you dunk you get 2 points, since you aren't supposed to be able to dunk from the 3

Why do people hate them? I feel like they just do it for fashion and nostalgia, they're not that bad, and they're optional, It's not like Nintendo is pointing a gun at players to use them.

Looked up the 3point rules. If both feet leave the ground behind the line, and you somehow can dunk, it is indeed, a 3 point dunk. If I've read it right, anyway.

The Earthbound music playing when it goes to a replay shot makes Poof's reactions better 😂

Those dunks from behind the three point line would be three points, but all dunks are programmed as two points because that’s the only possible way to dunk in the original unmodded game.

That last mod is crazy! The creator was able to accurately portray the NBA!

I think I get how ImpossiBALL works. You can't see anything, and it messes up a lot. But no one defends. The reason no shot from the side works is because after being thrown, the ball teleports to the middle around the three point line, both in front or behind it. That's also why only shots from the middle do anything, they're aimed towards to hoop perfectly. The sides make the ball teleport to the middle and shoot in the exact direction they were thrown from that specific side. Sorry if this is already known, I just realized it and thought it would be cool to share for anyone who doesn't know. Ya know, if anyone even reads this.

the ball never leaves the middle, it glitches around when passed but all the players are stuck in the middle on top of each other (they are not invisible). that's why the ball is thrown from the center, and the reason it goes sideways is due to the fact that the game script thinks it's being thrown from the sides while the player is still stuck in the middle, and since the ball is an object tied to the player model it get's thrown from the center regardless. for example during the start of rounds like at 4:36, the ball is in frame because it's coded to be there as part of the cutscene, but once the game starts it bounces back to the player model at the center.

It's interesting to watch the ball be thrown in a way it's not suppose to, straight to either side, left or right, from the middle. I wonder what they had to mess with in the code specifically to make the hack.

As a basketball official, if you dunk from outside the field goal line, it is a 3, and counted on the stat sheet as one. When it comes to the court, when the player jumps, their body is where it was when they jumped, until contact with the ground (or anything else touching the ground, except the goal) is made.

Grasshoper being good at dunking makes sense. He is a grasshopper after all.
