Mochi Making 2023 | Sutan has grown so much

This is the third time we have made Mochi at our home. Anyone watching all the videos? We’re getting better at it little by little, and I think this is how a family tradition is being created!😊
Then my friend Lena came to eat mochi and I learned how transform a kimono no longer wore into beautiful art from her. She is a working mother with a child the same age as Sutan. I would love it if you could answer her questions!

Anyone watching all the Mochi pounding videos from 3 years ago? Don't you think we've improved?🤭 Help answer my friend Lena's questions. 12:35 Let her know what you think in the comments!🙏 Check her website- www.kimono-ikasu.com/collections/frontpage Message from her❤️ “Did you know that every kimono and obi is one-of-a-kind piece of art, and every pattern and motif has the meaning? For example we used obi with pine pattern - a symbol of longevity, as pines stay green all the year round. The other New Year symbols are bamboo and plum. Bamboo stands for strength, because it grows straight fast. Plum - for fertility and prosperity of descendants, as plum is the first to bloom in severe winter cold. You can use these symbols in your interior for better luck in your 2024!” 👨‍👩‍👧Join Kimonoko Club- kzread.info/dron/LLC4hipTYA1e-Rv-l31Z_w.htmljoin It's a Cooking Club (KZread membership) to support the Kimono Mom channel to keep making interesting & fun videos. Dear KimonoMom, I'm from Brazil, my grandparents born in Japaon (Kyoto and Hiroshima). They taught us other way to make mochi. We use to put the raw rice in the blender to grind it. Than, we cook it with water and make a kind of dough. We wrap that dough with a cotton "tissue" and steam cook it. It looks easier than hammer it. Excepts, hammer looks nicer. =)

I have a book which teaches me about the different kimono patterns. I bought it after seeing a Japanese art and culture exhibition at the British Museum in London. I am learning the art of kintsugi . I love the Japanese way of not wasting things that can be used in a different way and creating art forms like this. Happy New Year from the UK.

Hello, I’m Lena Okamoto from the video. Thank you for your comment ❤︎ Kimono patterns becomes a passion once you know about them right?! Kintsugi is also so inspiring! it's such an amazing philosophy! I made some kintsugi-inspired works recently. Re-purposing the things is so deep in Japanese culture. First, WHOA!!!! Sutan is SOOOOO BIG now!!! I remember when she was just a little baby! Second, does Lena include a little bit of history about the owner of each kimono? That'd be an interesting way of passing it on to the next generation.

Great work on the mochi!! 🥰 So many good looking yuzu fruit from your tree this year! Sugoi! 🍋 The Ikasu kimono panels are so beautiful!!🤩 They might be nice to see in waiting rooms of doctor offices, or used along side acoustic panels in home entertainment rooms, music rooms, & recording studios! Also might be nice to see at a "Bed & Breakfast" or other types of hotels & ryokan. 👀💖Happy Holidays, everyone! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🤶🤍💚❤🕯
