To me, it's almost unbelievable that Boris FX is offering the plugin for free! Their suites (Continuum and Saphire) are outstanding but sooooo expensive. Great video! Cheers from Germany

I don't think this is going to be as accurate with hair bit it will still be a lot better than FCP's built in masking tool when it comes to hair. It's free though, so worth trying it out to see if it works for the particular shot you have in mind 😄

I suppose you could but I don’t think the results would look super realistic. I don’t think there is actually an easy way of doing it without getting into serious visual effects territory. Glad you’re enjoying the videos Brian! 😄🙏🏼

What version of final cut do you need? When i add the effect, I don't have any options to customize

As far as I know you’ll need at least FCP 10.6.2 and MacOS 10.15.6. What versions are you running?

Hi, Brad! Not sure if you're still answering to this video, but I'm in the downloading process and I'm not sure I understand/like one part. When it says, "remove all unlicensed plugins" does that mean that every plugin I've downloaded previously from other sites have to be removed in order to use this one? The tracking doesn't appear in the view matte mask option . Even though tracking is perfect in the Pixel chooser there's nothing but a white surface with four handles and a center point. Where to look for help ?

Confused - is this purely free or it requires a separate subscription? Every time I click on FX editor in FCPX it doesn't preview my own footage, it just shows a C watermark. Nothing happens when I hit apply. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still doesn't work, and the other effects like Glow, etc all show up with a red X even though I had selected *remove all unlicensed plugins* when installing..

@@Brad_West It's not even been a day but I now invested in the studio version of Davinci just for the magic mask alone. It's a game changer and time saver deluxe. Since I love Final Cut and own a lot of plugins for that, I export the alpha from DaVinci and continue to work in FCPX. Love it. Can only recommend it.

Yes, I even tried on different computers. It doesnt open. But Ive tried with vpn turned on and the link transfered me to website where I filled out everything and installed it with activation key. Then we tried it on our Imac, but we dont see mocha. We isntalled "all plugins" and used "activation key" as you suggest to everyone. But there is no mocha. So now I wanted to try to download again. But the link is not opening. Is it because we are in another country or smth? Another question is - are the bcc looks and continuum website has the same look? Because when I was trying several times to go through the link, Ive tried to see both links and noticed they look the same. So I thought may be I downloaded the wrong link somehow or not...

I installed BCC+Looks but only the BCC+Looks got registered, but I now have many red error from the other BCC library icons in my effects bin? Please advise.

Hi wich BCCFree version did you installed? by me using FCPx 10.6.4 and tried Continuum_2024_Apple_Final_Cut_17_0_1 and Continuum_2024_Apple_Final_Cut_17_0_3 and even Boris FX Hub Installer_Continuum-1.1.5-mac I cannot use the plugin. It works sporatically, And I get often : plugin not responding .

But sudently it freezes, and I get the message plugin not responding.... Install reinstall helps sometimes but I managed only once to have it working....

Which plugins are those? I have a bunch of MotionVFX plugins that work perfectly on my M1 Max. You can try BCC Looks for free to see if you have any issues on your Mac but again, works perfectly on my M1. Thanks for watching the video though 😄👍🏼

mTracker 3D is my favorite tracker. But, if I need to do 2D tracking that FCP can't handle I default to using After Effects. I've heard good things about the tracker from CoreMelt but I haven't tried it myself. Hope that helps! 🤞🏼

It is still free. I just checked the link again and it takes you to the page to create your account and get the free license.

I followed the link but there is NO Mocha Tracking, its everything else that you cannot use because it has a big red X on it. Where's the Mocha Tracking??? This is the risk everyone will take when they download from a link. After, I tried to delete the BCC software which is extremely difficult. there are over 360 files, I managed to delete most, but left with 20 files that I cannot delete. I would NOT recommend anyone downloading the BCC files.

I had the same problem. Clicking on fx editor/mocha mask/ help. Nothing happens. Uninstalled/reinstalled twice with no luck. I emailed them and no reply. Did you find a solution?

@@MrAndyBradley Yes, I had thought the mocha app installed was just more bloatware trying to get you to buy the full version of mocha so I had deleted it months prior during installation of another plugin pack. I reinstalled everything from BorisFX from scratch and now it works. Hope that helps you and good luck with your problem!

It's just the looks FX for free. Not the other ones you showed in your video. The other ones belong to Continuum.

That’s exactly what I said though. Towards the end I showed what else is part of the paid Continuum package.

I know right! 🤯 The fact that a plugin so powerful is free amazes me. Rotoscoping 👏🏼 in 👏🏼 FCP 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 free 👏🏼

A zillion plug-ins that don't work until you pay. There is an uninstaller in the app's application folder.

FREE?! Really? Prices for BCC plugins are outrageously priced! $25/Mo or ~$1000 for standalone. Can't figure where to get the FREE Looks plugin.

Yeah they have a lot of specialty plugins. Not for everyone. Did you click on the BCC Looks link at the top of the description? It takes you straight to the page to get the free license.

Holy cow this outfit is pricey... too much for an non-pro Enthusiast who is not in it for the money

They took away the mocha tracking feature totally makes downloading the free version useless

The mocha tracking feature is still there. There must be an issue with the installation. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling?

I don't think mocha is free any longer

Yeah it still is. You just need to sign up to download it.

@Namai. Hmmm 🤔 Maybe it’s a MacOS or FCP version issue that’s not compatible with Mocha? It would be best to reach out to BorisFX’s support team. Be sure to tell them your MacOS and FCP versions.

It is 100% free

Let your sponsor know their plugin is 100% broken. Shows missing media when dragged over and the media is referenced. Too bad, looked promising.

It sounds like you might have installed the trial version or haven’t entered your license correctly. Here's official info from BorisFX that might help if you have a red X. 1) BCC + Looks is the only FREE effect if someone chose to install ALL the plugins. You can choose to install just the looks plugin. If you don't choose this, vou will see all of the continuum products in vour library as well, which will require a payed license. 2) Looks will have a red X on it if the license is NOT activated, The user needs to take the serial number given in an email and paste it to activate or it's a trial.

@@Brad_West well I used your limk. I didn’t have any previous software from them but followed the instructions, removing past plugins (there were none but still did the step,) used the activation key in the email. The plug-in asks for the source clip and when I reference it I get that red card with the missing media icon in the viewfinder. I’ll read your reply and see if there any ways to fix it.

@@NOTLeavingLV Yeah there have been a few people with this problem, probably because the installation process is not as simple as it should be, but the plugin definitely works and it's definitely free. I would suggest uninstalling and trying again. I hope you're able to get it working 👊🏼

@@NOTLeavingLV I try to respond to every comment, regardless of channel size. I genuinely believe in the products I promote because I use them myself and they are helpful to me. If they help me, I'm sure others will benefit too. I just want to create a community of editors who share the same passion I do for creating and editing 😄👍🏼

This is the worst plug in you can buy if you do the mocha. It doesn't track worth a crap

If there is enough contrast in the scene it does a decent job. You might still have to tweak the track to get it perfect like you would have to do in After Effects or something similar.
