I experienced the same with an old 90 year old teacher. All the body connected power from one point. 1 teacher had us moving the entire body then making it a smaller and small movement but keeping the same power. In the end you got the same effect with less movement.

I have been a solid follower of Adam for some time. I also practice Taiji/Qigong myself and have always looked forward to Adams content. To echo some of the sentiment here: I too feel that this video crossed a line that I never thought would be crossed. It greives me to now feel that I have to approach future videos with caution--should I continue to follow the channel. I am not going to pick apart this video in public forum because: 1. the concerns are already echoed in past comments. 2. I have a deep respect for the Taiji art form and Adam's skills in the art. I will be willing to reply in private forum if there is an actual need. I don't feel that this is a concern that can be over simplified to mere ignorance, "hate", etc. I just sincerly hope that there is a *genuine* introspective understanding as to why this sentiment exists and a resolution be provided. It's my wish that my faith in this channel be restored--as I would like to continue to follow this channel and enjoy future content, without the burdening overhead of skepticism.

Hey @@the-toecutter, Agreed. I still find the rest of the work in this channel wonderful, informational, and inspiring. I respect Adam's mastery of the art and would still LOVE to take one of his classes sometime. I know there are MANY different videos out there that paint this type of of picture of what Qi is and how its used. I feel that when one goes down this road, it is a slippery slope as it may paint a picture for people (about the art) that may not be 100% accurate--especially for people who may not know anything about it. So, I feel that this is something that really needs to be taken with precaution for the very reason you mentioned. I would hate to see all the work in this channel discredited by any means. I have the highest hopes that it doesn't.

You have no idea if it is of relevance to your spiritual path? What does that even mean. That would be as silly as saying I always wanted to learn the guitar or the piano but I have no idea if it's of any relevance to my spiritual path. It is a musical instrument and just is. There should be no story, opinion, judgement or belief attached to it. It just is. The same thing applies to any other art form you want to learn like painting or to sculpting. Tai Chi is no different and , any spiritual beliefs, judgement, opinions you attach to it is completely built from your own baggage and nothing to do with Tai Chi.

@RedPanda his push hands videos, his old videos of him light sparring, and his ability to articulate the art in a clear and concise manner shows his level of knowledge on the subject I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt because this might be one of those situations where you have to feel it to believe it...but based off the video the student seems unnecessarily compliant, which makes me question his old videos. If he has ability, why would he go out of his way to conjure up videos that would be considered boderline supernatural But what would really confirm if he's BS or not is a fight...against Xu Xiaodong or who ever is not going to be compliant with him After all, this is a martial art is it not?

@@YinYangSeperation I come from a background studying Chen Family Taijiquan from a lineage of someone that Mizner himself had publically stated to be an example of what mastery looks like. And, when it comes to concise/precise articulation, a politician can have those traits while saying a bunch of platitudes. If I say: "I am for the good, and I am against the bad." that is clear and precise language... but it's a platitude. Who's going to disagree with that statement? I've heard that line of reasoning plenty of times - people thinking someone is legit because it's in clear language.

Interesting. Almost 400 likes. When we give someone authority over us, when we believe what we are seeing and hearing, and we do that often, we absolutely have to believe in them otherwise we will lose faith in our ability to discriminate. As a result, we will comply with and empower that authority. Simply put, we let them control us, and we are very, very easy to control. We want to believe. We want to be led. We like being a member of a herd, a true believer. It's fine for those who want to follow, who want to believe. "The fool who persists in his folly will become wise". The truth always makes itself known.

The Truth is by scientific experimentation in person.... That is the only way you will know if real or not. If we are being totally honest. Watching a Video and making assumptions its not real is a unfortunate thing. Rather sit on the fence and if one really wants to know the truth go test it for oneself in person. Otherwise its Opinions based on only what one has experienced in life to this day.... We all know there is a lot more each of us have not seen or experienced in life. Best to be on the fence neither believe or disbelieve.. and Then go to find the truth... You cant start a path of discovery if you don't take the first step isn't it . Whether then you believe or not is based on the outcome of your experience being there .

Yes I have heard all of this before from lots of ignorant martial artists who really don't have a clue and have never experienced touching hands with someone skilled like the Sifu in this video. I agree that while there definitely are charlatans aplenty out there, there are also plenty of high level teachers and instructors out there who are not lying to or cheating their students and are genuine as the gentleman in this video is. The real proof here is whether or not the students of the teacher can themselves do what the teacher demonstrates. All of the students here already know without doubt what they experience when they touch hands with him. They don't require convincing or a belief of any kind as they have physically felt what happens to their bodies and there is some body understanding that is transferred. These students can themselves do some of what is demonstrated here and with enough hard work and practice over years they can achieve these skills themselves and use it effectively against others. They wouldn't continue to train so hard every day and spend time and money travelling to seminars to learn if they weren't getting the genuine article. So the only embarrassing thing here, is your lack of understanding and judgement without first meeting with the teacher and experiencing for yourself what is true and what is false. Part of the problem here is that you look at this video and think that the teacher is pretending to do something mystical or magical. Nothing could be further from the truth, as he is using normal abilities that everyone can achieve with patience, time and hard work.
