@@BraulioHernandez-sj6cv I don't think it's just the mechanical sounds alone is what makes hathaway more realistic than other gundam series. Stuff like the camera angles, they way they are positioned like at the end when the Messer show how big these units are. Not to mention as well is the backdrop of with they are fighting coupled with the lighting. It's purposely drawn to show them at a distance to see them towering over the trees and buildings. Adding to that too is the god tier sound design of the footsteps (how heavy they sound even when running on dirt), and as you said minor yet effective mechanical sounds that make you realise how huge these giant machines are.

the general scene setup is brilliant 1. the initial low altitude trip to prevent radar detaction, then acended to a high altitude depolyment when its at the war zone 2. feint attack to draw defensive force to another location, though responded by the local defence rather quickly 3. Gawman being cocky, expected the local defence to be incompetent as before and stayed too long, despite the quick counter attack eariler hinting the new commander was no joke. 4. Gawman again expected local defence to minimize civilian casualties as first priority, which Kenneth probably particularly instructed the local defence not to. 5. by this point Gawman was isolated, surrounded by grunt MSs, and Penelope approached with a fly by probably to try out Gawman's capability, and shortly returned with the shoot down 6. a few rounds at the right spot, engine malfunction, Gawman lost altitude, there was no way for him to get away from this. 7. Kenneth probably wanted to capture instead of kill, Grunt MS switched to concentrated mode beam saber with more precise and penetration attack this entire scene felt so realistic, mechanical and plausable, we need more of this.

The only problem I found with the film was that they made the night too dark, in the trailers it was clearer, you could differentiate things and see quite well. I did the comparisons of the scenes with the trailer and it's a fact that they darkened the night scenes more than they already were. And it's much more noticeable in the fight of the RX-105 Gundam against RX-104 Penelope.

@@Spudtron98 He is not questioning why civilians are getting hurt he is questinioning why the fuck the feds didn't even hesitate, he knows full well that some people will get hurt but even a terrorist doesn't expect the protectors of the population be the ones to cause the most harm. Also from his point of view he believes that he is fighiting the good fight, he says "Sorry for everyone that was caught on this and didn't deserve it" before he shoots at the hotel, demonstrating that he doesn't take pride in what he is doing but is sacrificing himself for is ideology, the Feds on the other hand just didn't care, its a subtle way to demonstrate the parallel between the two factions, one is young with good intentions but too reckless and idealistic to see that they may cause more harm than good, and the other is a corrupt machine that rides on propaganda for the good of the population but doesn't think for the population one bit.

Visually this movie is very pleasing. Unfortunately at least in my opinion the cons outweigh the pros. Now that does not mean that the movie is bad. If you enjoy the movie that’s perfectly fine. I definitely like the designs of the mobile suits. And they really gave a real sense of just how weight the mobile suits are during this whole thing. Unfortunately where the thing kind of falls flat in this whole thing is the fact that the sound effects for certain things aren’t exactly what I would consider to be very good. The beam rifles, sound like something out of laser tag.

Im gonna need to rewatch this movie. Gotta be my favorite gundam movie so far.
One of the best action scene in the series. The music and sound are great and I do love mech anime where they look more like machine then magical beast.
Everytime I have a Late UC itch, I rewatch this first Hathaway Film. I want an F90 Anime already!!!
There are so many awesome battles in the Gundam series but this is probably my favorite. It's so "real" and so terrifying. These are the insane gritty battles scenes where you can see the horrors of war.

Love Gawman so much this scene will live forever in my brain
Visually this movie is very pleasing. Unfortunately at least in my opinion the cons outweigh the pros. Now that does not mean that the movie is bad. If you enjoy the movie that’s perfectly fine. I definitely like the designs of the mobile suits. And they really gave a real sense of just how weight the mobile suits are during this whole thing. Unfortunately where the thing kind of falls flat in this whole thing is the fact that the sound effects for certain things aren’t exactly what I would consider to be very good. The beam rifles, sound like something out of laser tag.
I really want to know how such mobile suits move by using throttles 🤔
