Just to correct, the battle date isn't from the Nu Gundam. It's from the Core Fighter from the original Gundam. It drifted away in space after Amuro meet up with White Base crew. So the Amakusa is just One Year War Amuro battle experience without a shed of mercy.

Man, F91 should’ve been a full series with Crossbone right after.

I think you do very down to earth reviews and you can exactly capture the thought process what I've had in the past decade or so while watching gundam series so I just wanted to comment that you should continue with this style, it's pretty refreshing.

Dude, I love F91. Kou too. I never thought that Cecily lost her agency as much as she was trying to escape responsibility while coming to grips with the loss of her friends and home. Id never really thought of the episode skip you point out. That does make a lot of sense.

It's cool if you like F91 and Kou, it's all just opinions here! But yeah it's pretty clear they repurposed a lot of the original plans, if I remember correctly, they had the entire series composition done by the time it was rejected.

8:32 Miovsky particles are supposed to make all the sensors an AI would rely on almost useless. So really the bugs are very strange there.

I can sum Gundam F91 up as a compilation movie of an anime series that never existed. Also if you think Newtype monkeys is an outlandish idea, watch Gundam X and its rather infamous episode.

Good luck with Victory Gundam because its a show even Tomino hates 😂, so I'm definitely curious on your opinion for Victory Gundam. I got a couple of mecha recommendations for you in the future to keep an eye on. 5 in total. Gun X Sword Space Runaway Ideon and its movies (specifically Be Invoked) Aura Battler Dunbine Heavy Metal L-gaim Brain Powerd 4 of them Ideon, Dunbine, L-gaim and Brain Powerd are non-gundam works Tomino created or at the very least directed, Brain Powerd was created after Victory Gundam, Dunbine is credited as the granddaddy of the isekai genre, Ideon is one of the inspirations for Evangelion and is what gave Tomino the nickname "kill em all " Tomino, and L-gaim was the last show made before Zeta Gundam and has a somewhat star wars vibe.

I still like F91, especially for what it should've been, but yeah that is one disjointed mecha anime.

I don't think it's entirely fair to say that F91 wouldn't have been a good series based on the film, but it's true that what's present in the film is nowhere near developed enough. Amuro isn't the strongest Newtype ever. According to Tomino, it's Judau. Kamille had a lot of potential, but retired and it never fully developed. Amuro is more developed than Kamille, but less potential. I think Amuro just sort of gets more recognition than Kamille and Judau, and no one really sat them down and did any serious investigation.
