    Love your videos! While it's nice watching huge top-dollar renovations, I much prefer your style of showing the process of updating a home more slowly as money allows. It's encouraging to see a young family care about something other than bigger and better!!!

    So happy to find your videos! I also have a mobile home (1981) and I love it, too! Had to laugh when I saw your original bathroom sinks; they were exactly the same as mine! I’ve been slowly doing improvements to my home, and since it’s just me doing the work (with a few exceptions) I haven’t replaced the bathroom sinks yet. I just finished painting the exterior, with help from my daughter. I have a doublewide, so it took approximately 3 days, but it turned out so good. Got the paint on sale, so it only cost $104. Watching for deals like that allow me to do improvements, which I’m sure you can appreciate. Keep the videos coming, I’m really enjoying them!

So now, I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to a) remove my garden tub, install a larger shower and convert old shower to storage, or b) keep the tub, add surround and faucets to convert, and convert small shower to storage?

    My boyfriend and I just purchased a mobile home & I’m 5 months pregnant at the moment. It needs a bit of work, but what I noticed needed immediate attention is the bathroom. I often smell odd smells from the drains/toilet plumbing I’m guessing because I smell poop sometimes (gross I know could be the smell everything pregnancy nose) & also found out very quickly that our bathroom sink doesn’t turn on at all. (Any suggestions on if we should just gut out the old sink & replace it?) Also have a walk in shower that I would love to turn into a tub/shower eventually. We’re 23 & on a tight budget, any advice would be helpful!

    We had those exact same plastic sinks, and replaced them with the same stuff you did. Luckily both bathrooms and kitchen sink had standard rough opening and everything just dropped in. My neighbor has a 70's mobile home, and I changed her kitchen sink, and it really opened up a can of worms, due to odd rough opening sizes. Anyway good video and content!

    I just moved into a 1980 Hilltop single wide in really good condition. right now, painting inside of kitchen cabinets. gonna paint inside everywhere. One concern.... I want to get the tub removed and replace with a shower. The tub appears to be steel with a false front. It's about 27" x 54" with a false front. I want to replace it with a fiber glass shower enclosure, 32 x 48, or there about. What kind of pain is it to get that tub out? Is it super heavy??? I will call a handy man if we can get the damn thing out. No hurry, just planning. Carol

    We have a 2004 mobile home. One bathroom works perfect, three people use it.. My 85 year old mom has the master bathroom. We have a garden unused tub. We have had an ongoing problem with the toilet. My mom wears diapers, and uses the toilet very little compared to the smaller bathroom. We replaced the toilet about 4 years ago because it never worked right. Flushing is still a problem. Three months ago a plumber charged $750, snaked the pipe and found no clog yet the toilet was flushing when he was done. Now same problem. When we flush the toilet it appears to be flushing toward the garden tub and not to the septic. It's a low flow toilet so it's not backing up into the garden tub. There is no roof vent pipe. There is a vent under the bathroom sink, does this control the toilet? I've read a toilet will not work without a vent.

  • @OurJourneyToBliss

    Beth, thank you for your comment! When you say, "cave in", what do you mean exactly? Is the floor sagging in the bathroom, or does it feel spongy when you walk on it? This would indicate a more serious moisture problem with the subfloor, and that would require some major attention. As for the bathroom remodel, I would agree that it's difficult to find tradesmen who are willing to work on mobile homes. For some reason there's a stigma attached to working on a mobile home, and it frightens some tradesmen mostly because of their lack of familiarity with them. When in reality, doing work on a mobile home is very similar, if not the same in most cases, as to a stick home. I would begin your search where most homeowners do, www.HomeAdvisor.com. Search your area for very specific needs, like "Remodel a bathroom". Do your due diligence and read people's reviews of the tradesman, or company. If it were me, I would focus my search on people with a lot of good reviews, as most people would. Remember, my opinion is that people are more capable than they realize. Remodeling may sound difficult and daunting, but you can save a lot of money by taking the DIY approach, while consulting with a tradesman along the way. Perhaps consider doing partial work to save a few dollars. I hope this helps, please let me know what other questions you have!

    Our Journey To Bliss I have consulted with home advisors but have not found any licensed remodeling companies who do work on manufactured homes. The garden tub floor is feeling spongey especially around the drain. And the drain is most times extra slow. I’m assuming the tub needs to be removed, plumbing is at a slow failure, sub flooring is likely rotting away. I’m most concerned about the fact that my neighbors were the sellers and when they come back to AZ next spring and ask how everything is working that I prefer to be honest. The dryer has never worked & there’s a sewage stench that fillers the indoors that is smelling toxic. It comes from the floor vents. Or do I just sell it and move ? Thank you so much for taking time from your extra busy day to help problem solve. I appreciate any suggestions.

    My wife and i really enjoy watching your videos and have gained alot of confidence in our choice to go with a manufactured home. Purchasing a manufactured home will allow us to have it paid off in 10 years as apposed to having a 30 year mortgage. I do want to ask how much your 1980s trailer cost without the land and how much the tow delivery was as well thank you

  • @OurJourneyToBliss

    @OurJourneyToBliss

    JJ, thanks for posting! Excited for your next season! We purchased the home as-is, already attached to land. So we got it all together as on unit. For an older mobile home that was built after 1976, in good condition, you should expect to pay anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000. If it's newer, like 2000's up, you could pay more. Tow delivery can run you anywhere from $3,000 and up, depending on if it's a single wide, double wide, distance, etc.

  • @OurJourneyToBliss

    @OurJourneyToBliss

    What year and make is it? If it's an older home, like ours, chances are you will not have shut off valves at every water source in the home. In order for us to do the work in our bathrooms, we have to shut the water off to the entire home. There are other ways to do it, but this was the easiest. Just go to your water meter outside, lift the metal lid, and you should see a small valve you can turn. Once turned, go and turn on an outside faucet to make sure there is no water coming out after a couple seconds. This ensures the main water supply is shut off to the house. Now you will be able to work on any plumbing in the home. Once you're plumbing work is complete, turn the main shut off valve back on, and go test the work you did for any leaks. ***If you have a newer home, you may have shut off valves behind the wall of your shower. They would be in an access panel behind your hot/cold water handles. Pop the panel open and you should see them. Just turn them and you're ready to work. Hope this helps!

    You absolutely can remodel mobile homes. They are no different in their remodeled than if you had a site built home. Unfortunately, it can get expensive having to tear out the entire one piece. Maybe check out ReBath in your area, and get a free quote from them. Also try HomeAdvisor.com for quotes. Perhaps someone in your area would have an easier and cheaper solution. As for the hot tub, I would not put one inside your home. One option would be to build a small outdoor room to house a hot tub. You can even elevate the room, like with our back room, in order to have it on the same level as your home. Still, it costs some money to do, so price shop and negotiate on materials and labor costs. Let me know what other questions you have, and keep us updated! Praying for a quick solution to bring you quick relief!
