This man was VERY IMPORTANT to the NYC and Brooklyn Landscape and by extension The Rest of America. From my understanding he was also very responsible for making the Nations of Gods and Earth numbers grow exponentially through BK. And we know the NGE impact in the 1970s through the 1990s Then he also ran “The Coalition” where he and his associates would demand through force and strength in numbers that they be hired on construction site through out the City. Literally he was feeding Families.

It’s a common site to see horses in East NY/Brownsville. There’s a program out there that brings horses to certain blocks and kids learn to ride them. They ride all the way to the beach; it’s been around since the 60s. I grew in New Lots, so when I had friends come visit me on the weekends they’d bug out when the wee people riding them early morning. Great video

The Tomahawks was the biggest Black American gang in Brooklyn, (Akbar aka Champ and Kato) 1970s. With a small Chapter in Harlem. Then you had the Jolly Stompers. The Black Spades was the biggest Black American gang in over all NYC. They had chapters in Bx, Harlem, BK, Qz and NJ. Some of The Decepts of the 1980s are children, and nephews/nieces of Tomahawks.

Knew 1 of the Big leaders of the tomahawks and his name was Kato, he became a big pimp and gangster. I heard that Kato went to federal prison during the '90 and I heard that knew some people that knew Akbar. I Also remember seeing Akbar in Brooklyn riding around on that horse, But I didn't know who he was at the time. I heard that Akbar died from AIDS.

His full name was Akbar U Allah and there is a school on Livonia Avenue in Brownsville under the 3 Train that bears his name and still stands to this day.
