The Lei situation was a High School I believe in California and not Hawaii. The school was right. Traditionally, lei’s are given after the official graduation ceremony. The student was trying to wear her lei during the ceremony, which the school’s policy did not permit. Their policy was to maintain uniformity with the traditional school graduation ceremony, which is no different from past high school graduation ceremonies throughout Hawaii. In my humble opinion, some battles are worth fighting for but this one was not it. The family chose to be offended and killed the whole vibe of what would’ve been a momentous occasion for the young graduate. Look at it this way, today we’re asking to buck the system over a flower lei, who knows how far parents like this father for other students would take it for their own kids allowing them to wear a Swastika, a Rainbow sash, a KKK hood, or maybe even dragging a wooden Cross across the stage, 😂 etc. The principle of the matter is the school is being fair to all by affording all students to adhere to policy standards during these occasions. If this was something truly against this family’s culture, how far were they willing to go in order to make their point? In the end, the Girl likely took off her lei and participated in the ceremony because the graduation ceremony meant more to her than a symbol aka a lei. Alofa atu usos - As always great discussion and episode. 🤟🏽❤️

I went and watched one of the Pacific combines they had about a month and a half ago in Samoa... I hope they give Owen Niue a run. He was fuggin slicing through everyone like nothing. Quick off the mark, that unorthodox kuā goosey. Then hopefully he can get a Moana contract too because damn they are in need of some speedsters...
