I didnt realize how blessed I was going here in 1980; especially since they had just paved the roads a few years earlier. I assumed they were always paved. Guess I took all this for granted back then; especially living in Golden, British Columbia; this was an easy motorcycle campiny trip for us. Thank you for making my memories come alive! You did a beautiful job in this video!!

Tried doing this trip in reverse last October, but got turned back by a nasty early season snowstorm out of Canada at the Goosenecks Overlook in Capitol Reef. Going to hit Arches and Canyonlands in June. Damn fine scenery on the drive though, and Bryce Canyon at first light is something magical I will carry with me till my dying days.

The places in the first third of the video are some the most underrated parts of Utah

The drive on highway 12 through and past Boulder UT on the way to Bryce is nothing to joke either. Narrow roads, carving up and over the fold makes for an incredible 360 view.

The pioneer schoolteacher in the old photo at the schoolhouse in Fruita in Capital Reef is my great, great, great grandmother. Utah's awesome. (Edit: Oh! I forgot to mention, Butch Cassidy and/or The Sundance Kid supposedly hid out in Capital Reef. There's an amazing arch named after one of them (Cassidy, if memory serves).)

They are NOT allowed on trails. They’re generally discouraged elsewhere.
