MOA Crawler Build |Ep 5| Electronics, Custom Skid-plates, and FIRST DRIVE?!

Ғылым және технология

We made some HUGE progress on the moa this episode and I want to extend and even huger thank you to y'all for making episode 4 my new best performing video! Anyways, we had such a jam-packed episode today with everything from soldering and programming to fabrication and mandrel bending. We also got to take it out for it's first test run, not a maiden voyage yet but very soon. I got the tires I need ordered and I think we will try the stock 2.9 hyrax tires without modding them to see how they perform but i also got another pair of Ibexs for the cut-n-shuts. Anyways, that's all I gotta say, cheers y'all!

    I’d recommend getting some kapton tape to line metal parts you don’t want arching.

    It's a wonderful job. I recommend shortening the wheelbase and changing the tires to 2.2 inch wheels.

    Thanks! I don't think I am going to make it any shorter and I am going to be using 2.9 in wheels because it's so long

    Awesome build all it needs now is some super class wheels to go with the super class chassis

    That's really great what you've built there Erika. Here's a suggestion for you to consider - use channel 4, and the redundant stick, for independent rear wheel steer. Use channel 5 on a 3 position switch to vary the drag brake, or use channel 6 on the dial to vary the drag brake as you see fit on the fly.

    I definitely could, Although I don't want to put rear steer on this rig since my shafty already has it and I don't feel like fishing out another 500 bucks for a second front axle. Also my RX only has 4 channels so I am a bit limited there but I will make it all work. Thanks for watching!

    You're doing awesome 👍 as an old RC pilot that became a crawler... Really it's programming our brain not the controller. One of the hardest things I had to learn was how to use my rudder on my aircraft. Which is kind of like rear stear. Keep it up! You will have way more control with dual stick. Anybody drive with the steering wheel 😊😉

    Using a remote like that, seems so complex to use for a rock crawler, imo. So used to seeing them for the RC air planes or boats. I'd just use either a flysky system, or as I'm currently using, is a Spektrum DX5C, which would be better. But to each their own I guess. 😅😁 BTW, I'd probably use a smaller battery, maybe get away with mounting it somewhere, behind the front axle instead.

    Yeah I couldn't tell you why exactly but I had my heart set on a dual stick for this one lol and yeah I am definitely going to get some smaller batteries once this thing is fully operational

    I think you did right by going with a flight stick controller. I see a quite a few Superclass and MOA drivers using them so there must be a draw to the option of having two sticks. Do those have dual rate adjustability for steering and throttle? Very cool to see it run! Psyched to see it with the custom wheels and tires on it. Do you plan to compete with it or did you build it simply for the challenge?

  • @Hwy49RC

    @Hwy49RC

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah it does, and so many other options too! One of the reasons I got it was because I knew I would be switching my 4ws shafty to it and if I build some of my other wild dreams from when I was younger I will need the switches lol. I built it because I have always dreamed of having one, that's it I guess haha
