NHYSE1 is one of the Hampton Switchers that work between east staging yard and classification yard. The staging yard commonly serves as a bulk receiving yard or departure yard, while the classification yard sorts out cars from the receiving yards. NHYSE1 is the switcher that brings sorted cuts of cars out of the class yard and puts them in one of the 4 other yards depending on where that outbound train will be built. NHYSE will also bring cars from the east yard to the top of the class yard, where cars awaiting to be sorted will be dropped.
