Also, Master Wong isn't stating Tai Chi is better, he stated it depends on the situation and that MMA's fighters are trained for combat, period, and that the forms of Tai Chi shouldn't be compared. You should rewatch and listen to what he is saying, and by the way, youtube is a free speech and format to preach as much as he wants? He takes the time to help others, why is that a bad thing?

I believe that the Tai chi Master realized that he got himself into a situation that he was not prepared for. If the Tai chi Master would have studied MMA styles of combat, he would have fared much better. My heart goes out to the Tai chi Master. • @masterwong101

    Your coworker's perspective is interesting, but it's essential to approach martial arts discussions with an open mind and respect for different disciplines. At Master Wong System, we believe in training hard and living clean, embracing the principles of WuDe. It's not about pitting one style against another, but rather about understanding the value each martial art brings. Tai Chi is a beautiful and powerful art that emphasizes internal strength, balance, and flow. It can indeed deliver critical damage when applied with precision. True, very wise as well. I never thought of Tai Chi as a fighting style more like a healing style. I also don't believe that there's some kind of energy that people can create to exert in a fight. Some trainers have tried to suggest that but beyond the science I don't buy it. I think Tai chi heals because you learn coordination, meditation, and staying in motion not because it's magic, and again it's healing not fighting. Expect to lose a chess game if you come with dice.

    well the only energy that you can have with martial arts is actually black magic xD. At least that is what most traditional Silat martial arts actually do. Yeh real black magic and not some chi stuff. Most traditional Silat practitioner are actually also practicing black magic and not like chinese martial artist who says its some cosmic energy bla bla, Silat martial arts say it loud and clear, that it is black magic and satanic ritual. I know this because my great grandma and grandpa do this. xD

    Hey guys I'm Chinese and I know the whole thing let me explain. The so-called taichi master, Lei Lei, in the 10 second fight is literally NOT a master. All his career is deceiving the public and tell everyone he is a kungfu master. Actually he is just FAKE as fxxk. He performs bullshits like hitting watermelons and making birds don't fly. The MMA guy, Xu Xiaodong, decided to expose his lies so he challenged him. Xu also decided to challenge all the fake Kung Fu "masters". Unfortunately, Xu's method is illegal and he makes the powerful Kung Fu Union angry so now he has been stopped by force.

    He's not saying he would power up, just fight differently. In a competition, he's focused on points and rules. If his life or his family is in danger, he will focus on stopping the threat as quickly as possible. If that means breaking the assailant's bones, so be it. If he dies, he dies. He's just going to fight harder to win when the stakes matter and he can't let himself lose.

The problem is the enemy will never know when those punch will hit him because it's very fast and in a very short distance, it could be when Bruce attacks with many fast punch and he do it in the middle of all the punches when the opponent busy with defending himself from all the attacks, don't underestimate chinese martial arts, it's not the martial art, it's more to who using it!

    heywhatsup65 mma fighting is the best way to win an mma fight. Boxing is the best way to win a boxing match. Karate is the best way to win a karate tournament. These are all sports with rules. If you are in a scrap with some screw ups at the local bar then sure, your man is going to come in handy. But the idea that mma is "real fight" training is no more true than saying tai chi is. A real fight involves the first guy getting hit in the nuts being brutally murdered. Mma is incredible but I don't see those guys defending themselves from nut shots. They're sitting there wide open. I also don't see them using any technique that's going to block a beer bottle to the head or a knife in the gut. As the crazy yelling guy in the video says this conversation is just stupid. A "real fight" is quick, scary and random. All this peacock posing and Dick measuring has zero to do with "a real fight."

MMA while is a very well rounded style if many arts together has a very big advantage over more traditional martial arts that focus in only one specific area of combat. You must know your enemy in order to have a chance in battle, if you don't most likely you will be defeated. kind regards,

On the street i could attack the groin or the eyes too. Even deadly because my fist and legs could break ribs and bones. I also can win on the street without an attack to the groin or the eyes. Im not the only one. Almost everyone who took up this so called sports combat can do this shit. These arguments bout MMA cant work on the street is pure bullshit. As a JKD practitioner. I agree that Master Wong is 100% correct. I use elements of Tai chi in my JKD concepts, mainly for balance and energy direction. I saw PLENTY of times where the Tai chi guy could have done EFFECTIVE Tai Chi on the MMA guy, but he was either scared or unfocused. He obviously never sparred much and figured it out. Sometimes, you have to get off your high horse, leave the "demo" life alone and actually spar various opponents to figure out how to apply your movements effectively. And technically it was just sloppy boxing the MMA guy used, which makes me believe the Tai Chi guy wasn't that good to begin with.

  • @Jazzman-bj9fq

    @Jazzman-bj9fq

    That 'fight' may be representative of 'exposing a fake' or someone being in over their head... Either way, as someone who has practiced traditional martial arts and has sparred, sparring is a much different fish than just going through techniques like 'one-step' defenses and katas. Sparring is different than MMA fights, and both are different than fights on the street. It really goes into your, for what purpose you train for. Most people now want to train MMA because of the awesome knockouts they see on the PPV's but even still, a street fight is a way different thing altogether and moreover a street fight is different than a mugging or random attack with a weapon in a murder attempt. I train for self-defense purposes where I may be in a situation of life and death so what I attempt to learn are techniques that will keep me alive and what would allow me to escape a situation that I don't want to be in. So someone like myself shouldn't be training in a 'sport' form that is designed for sport fights... There are no rules on the street so I don't want to limit myself through repetition training where there are rules as to what is off limits, i.e. groin, neck etc. You gotta know what purpose you train for first and foremost.

    Wardfolio I don't know why people describe mma as a style. I always though combining a handful of styles was just mma. Very similar to JKD. Take things that are good for your personal style and leave the rest. Granted mma is normally at least boxing, Thai, and bjj. If you lack those "basics" it's over for you when fighting a real opponent. I do agree on the challenging part too. Fuck fighting people for ego or glory. I fight because of my friends and family. Most of my good friends are the ones on the mats.

    I remember seeing a Chinese person say, "i'm Not afraid of his Karate, or her Kung Fu." It is your personal expression of the art, it is yours. Your body structure is not the same as other peoples. The style in my opinion gives you concepts to use according to each situation. I am in no means an expert, still learning, yet, i get really tired of people saying this style does not help you in a fight, or it's no good. It's no good for them, not me. If that makes sense.? As usual, i enjoy your videos sir.

    Here is the problem. It's not that Tai Chi isn't designed for present day combat. It's that most people don't practice Tai Chi Chuan for combat.Tai Chi was designed for war. Lethal combat both in one on one situations and in large groups. The problem is that Tai Chi Chuan has enormous health benefits and most people practice it for that purpose. I have been in real life fights and used Tai Chi Chuan to defend myself. The guy who is fighting the MMA guy didn't use a single joint breaking technique. He didn't use the man's force against him to send his attack back on him. So this is why he lost badly.

    Some martial artist stubbornly refuse to see the truth. These things were settled completely back in 1992. The brazillians were proposing that in real fights those fancy moves don't work. The whole martial art world laughed at them. They showed footage of fights in Brazil but many said those were fake. Finally in 1992 the world watched the first UFC that went on cable tv which was actually UFC 2. UFC 1 earlier didn't get much attention. Martial artists gave their commentaries and critique but most of them couldn't even understand what the techniques were. Gradually it became so clear to everyone that those fancy moves that some martial arts have practiced for years are garbage in a real fight situation. In offended a lot of pride and caused a lot of shame. Those who continue to challenge reality got beat up in every tournament. Only those who were open minded to learn real boxing, muaythai and juijitsu or wrestling did well in the ring.Pure Kung fu guys, even karate guys became just nuisance.

    I'm an MMA fighter and it's really true Tai chi is a sport based more on health than combat if we take it into account MMA is based on the force of the punch ,Tai chi its more based of self defense if an example someone practice Tai chi and another MMA the Tai chi person are trained more to self defense but MMA guy on practice of punch/kicks with power [Let's not forget the combat at floor/ Slam] what you can do with self defence against powerfull puches and kick over your boddy you cant defense infinite time if you got an punch in your hand it will hurt or a leg until you lose balance and fall same the guy in the vid. happy turtle when a soldier steps up to the battlefield. He doesn't give a shit what style of fighting you know period all he knows is that the enemy is not there to make him a cake. and his fighting style is going to be whatever it takes to preserve his own life. of Thumb in the eye a crushed windpipe shattered bones a boot to the face. It does not matter unless you're one of these guys that wants to stand up in a squared Circle and roll around in your underwear with another dude. that is not the reality of fighting. reality of fighting is simple, live or die there are no points in between. this is the soldiers way. Master Wong is absolutely right. You do whatever you have to do to stay alive. choreographed fighting is for Hollywood.

    People be making fun of martial arts saying it doesn’t work. Ok let me clarify 1. It’s an art , used for health , exercise and to understand the fundamentals of “fighting” that’s why it’s called MARTIAL ARTS 2. Every martial art is used for different situation like grappling , stand up , takedowns etc. 3. Every martial art is good. There is no such thing as a bad martial art or form. Why? Because you can learn many martial arts. But if you don’t know how to apply it in an actual fight? Then it’s not the art form fault? It’s YOU. 4. Martial arts compared to mma fighting it’s mixed , martial arts is strict compared to mma. But like I said if you don’t know how to fight? Or how to use the art you learned in a fight? That’s what makes it bad😉 Now tai chi isn’t bad at all , if a person who is good in martial art and isn’t afraid to what I call “step” it can be deadly.
