    But he's an actual fighter... win tournaments, sparred with the best of them and stays in amazing shape. You'll never know because he's not driven by money but, I would be hard pressed to see someone in the ufc just wash the ring with him. There are a lot of fighters that have seen him in action. Now I'm not saying he's the best ever, but he's a fighter that just so happens to be in film. Not the latter

    I believe he is a martial artist that has competed because that validates your mastery. I do not believe he is a fighter, but I would say he is a master of his craft. He has said it himself. The mentality behind putting your life at risk in ufc or mma format is different then the mentality of a master of the martial arts. Bruce Lee everybody swears was the greatest fighter to ever live. But let's be honest, he was not a fighter. He was the master of his craft and through film and martial arts competition he put that on display. Which is what we see from Michael Jai White.

    It's called the Guyver Kick, not the MacGyver Kick. Guyver was an anime that was made into a live action movie. A stuntman called Sho Fukamachi performed that kick in the movie. Scott used it in Undisputed and since then it's been associated as Boykas signature move. MacGyver was a class series tho. That and Quantum Leap defined the 80s 😁

    Surely you jest? Lee killed Chuck Norris and (mercy be upon him) subsequently resurrected him! He single-handedly invented modern MMA and rescued many a kitten. Stopped being amusing, so ending there; but yeah… the fanaticism and cultishness of a *lot* of TMA practitioners is baffling to me, too.

  • @TimedRevolver

    @TimedRevolver

    The thing that made Bruce great was adaptability. He wasn't afraid to learn new things to make up for shortcomings in his knowledge. A lot of folks find what works for them and then don't do much, if anything, to change things up. Bruce was always looking to improve and better both himself and his technique. I genuinely think he could have handed most MMA guys today a solid loss, just due to how fast he was, and how diverse his skillset was.

  • @paulpolito2001

    @paulpolito2001

    @@TimedRevolver I wasn’t trying to denigrate Lee’s (considerable and substantive) contributions to martial arts in general, or MMA specifically. I agree with your assessment of his versatility, and had he lived another 20-30 years then the rest of my statement would - likely - no longer be true; but any well-rounded modern mma fighter that’s anywhere within 15 lbs (+/-) of Lee would essentially dominate him… he only had the *barest foundation* of a Ground Game, and the various Shin kicks are only relatively recently popular (even if they’re old as dirt). Just imho, tho

    No won't happen because UFC is the pinnacle of fighting not a shit show like logan paul boxing shows. Being a fighter is literally to put your body through hell every day for month on end for not much money.

    So Michael is easily one of my favorite martial artists to watch films from. Is everything realistic? God no, but not martial arts film is and like y'all have said a "real film" would be no fun for a lot of people. Like you also said I don't doubt that he really is a good fighter in real life compared to most people, is he beating everyone that exists? No, but it would be fun to think that honestly. What it is for me is that I appreciate how most of his movements seem more realistic, in watching a lot of martial arts films you see a lot of BS or motions that look absolutely ridiculous or inhuman. Outside of a few outliers, Jai White really does not do anything a trained fighter couldn't do themselves which makes the fight scenes feel more fact based at least to me.

  • @TheJokesterSCR

    @TheJokesterSCR

    2 жыл бұрын

    Oh, shut the fuck up. You have no idea what you're talking about. Statistics show that it's EXTREMELY rare for an unarmed black person to be shot by cops in America. And even then, most of the time the guy is fighting and assaulting police before getting shot because they have no way of knowing beforehand whether or not he has a weapon, or the guy tries to take the cops weapon. Sure, you can dig up a few cases where it was clearly an unjustified shooting. In those cases, I will NEVER defend the cop. I believe the cop should be put away in those cases and most of the time, they are. By the way, the same exact shit happens when it's a white guy fighting police. In FACT... It's statistically MORE likely that a white guy will be shot by police in similar situations because the cops are less worried that they will face severe consequences for it these days. Just a little fun fact. We just don't get to see those cases plastered all over the news because that doesn't support the divisive narrative that keeps the public fighting with one another. We only get shown the outlier cases where the cop goes free OR the media completely misrepresents what actually happened to paint a narrative. Divide and conquer. For fuck sake, wake up.

    I have a strong feeling that MJW is more legit than people give him credit for considering that he knows and has trained with modern day champions and whatnot. People give him crap because he's a movie star, but I think he's the real deal out of all of the martial arts actors. Him and Donnie Yen actually know their shit. Jackie Chan would be a legit problem for most people in his prime as well, but not in a MMA sense. More like you'd have no idea wtf he was going to do and he may catch you off guard. But MJW definitely stands out to me considering his training background. He chose movies because that's where the money was and still is, but his passion is clearly in martial arts.

    To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand MJW movies. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also MJW's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike MJW truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in MJW's existential sidekick ,"The Dragon's Wing" which itself is a cryptic reference to Bruce Lee's epic "Enter the Dragon." I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as MJW's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools...how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a MJW tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. Brad, always asking the *truly* important questions: “…so, how MUCH cocaine can ya get away with?”. I suspect the answer depends on how well you can rock a tracksuit and your (relative) dermal melatonin concentration… ‘well’ and ‘low’ meaning “Comrade! Come and supply us with the warming snow!” E: Joe brings up a crucial point about edged weapons - you’re going to want, AT MINIMUM, a ~6”/15cm blade on anything you plan to use for “knife fighting” (impale/eviscerate your opponent BEFORE they gut YOU, nothing graceful/aesthetic about it). Ya need to be able to reach the vital bits - this is why 8”/20cm is usually the shortest blade length you’ll find on dedicated ‘fighting knives’. Also, imho, the *only* reliable defense against getting shanked is SITUATIONAL AWARENESS, as it takes very little training, technique, or skill to tat up a motherfucker once you’re in effective blitz range, which varies a lot based on attacker and defender, but ~15-21’/5-7m (imo) is a reasonable range to train for. Be aware of who and what’s inside that, make that your perimeter and picket that shit as best ya can… well, I’m a rural, swamp dwelling, semi-reclusive hermit so that last bit may be poor advice if ya happen to live in a more urban area.

    love your videos! Not called "The Macguyver Kick" because its something out of nothing. That's actually awesome. But no. In an interview, he said that he learned that kick on the set of the movie "The Guyver" (cheesy 80s scifi Blist film) and that the stunt man who taught it to him gave him the kick to TM?). Scott Adkins called it "The Guyver Kick". just fyi.

No is he a MMA fighter or has he ever been? No but is he a legit martial artist? Absolutely the movies are the movies but he can really legit fight and I think you guys missed that part you have to have some martial arts training just to do what he's doing in the movies. Check out the link guys see for yourselves.

    Missed one of my favorites, and what I think might be one of the best choreographed fight scenes outside of Hong Kong. MJW v. Matt Mullins in Blood and Bone. Movie is mediocre (would be better if anyone could actually compete with MJW's character - being superman doesn't always make for good drama) but this fight scene in particular is fantastic. The fluidity of it is almost like a dance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6uG0rWqZ6q7maQ.html

Black Dynamite is a parody of of these films especially Dolomite. The rest of your criticism is fair and great movies are fantasy As fighters u guys are great having fun people should not get mad. Love your guys Information.

    Late to watch this but reason why people think he the best fighter because there are interviews on Michael jai white saying he could easily be in the ufc and reason he isnt is because they dont pay enough its not worth his time but he has the skills for it. He built himself up so much people believe anything he says

    No one starts fighting for money. If you're a true fighter then nothing on earth can compare to the adrenaline of a fight! you vs another human in a fight to the death.... But their skills and a referee are the only thing stopping that! If you truly believe it then you would want to prove it, MMA fighters retire and get a real itch when theyre around it to want to try and compete again. MJW doesnt have that

    I don’t get this video are you reacting to the quality of his films or the reality in them ? Because they are meant for a certain audience. The fights aren’t meant to be realistic so there is no argument there it’s theatre . He must be a decent martial artist because of his belts but in terms of him being a fighter you have to challenge him to find out . So I like I said what’s the point of this video ?

    I know that you guys are trying to be funny(and at times you are), but I'm hearing things that are coming off as very bigoted. We know it's all movies and not real. People who have some Martial Arts training(like me) know what's fake and what can actually work. Brad, I would love for you to have a conversation with MJW. Your dislike for him is a bit obvious, but that's why Ice Cream comes in a variety of flavors. MJW is just not your flavor.
