The single, critical, gut-wrenching question is: Will Bibi give the order to attack Rafah, and when refused by the Army (or just endlessly delayed), address the nation and say that there has been a military coup? This of course would bring his supporters to the barricades, spill blood in the street (as Ehud Barak wants), and the ensuring civil war by necessity will stop the Rafah campaign. Or: can Bibi do it once the Americans push him too hard? That, in a way, is the Altalena decision that Ben Gurion had taken, but Bibi wouldn't. Or is it because Bibi is correct in glossing over the military rebellion so as to push through to Rafah? Or is it because he is no Ben Gurion? Probably both. What is becoming clear, though, is that the national rage against the US is rising daily, so that the next political leader that bases his political platform on "Let's free ourselves from perfidious America," will likely get a huge mandate. Will it be Eliyahu Iosian? It may be. His rhetorical ability is off the charts, mixed with practical hypnosis a la Trump (and I used to teach the first and practice the second). He is building up a large public on his own dime, without selling himself to public megaphones with the agendas of their backers. To sum up, the US has probably lost Israel, which will eventually make a cheeky peace with Saudi Arabia, no US permission required, and Blinken will be known as the worse Sec of State, who screwed up Afghanistan, lost Chad and Niger, and also lost Israel for the American empire. (Imo India will be Israel's next patron, but that's for the coming decades. Btw, the US deep state hates Modi almost as much as they hate Bibi.)
