One of the greatest MLS games I've ever watched. This finals kept me on the edge of my seat. Seeing the stadium erupt when Gareth Bale tied the game gave me chills. Incredible job by both squads and congrats to LAFC.

What a great story. Bale contributing and winning a chip on his MLS debut season. Keeper gets a red and the backup comes up clutch and wins MVP. The back and forth, punch for punch scoring. LAFC winning a nail-biter at home is the cherry on top.

Being a Nigerian and a passionate EPL follower and Arsenal lover, I love what the MLS is becoming. It used to be retirement football but it's changing now. I see the packed stadium and I must say hats off to the organizers of the league. I see a lot of Americans being interested in the real football (your soccer) and I am very much impressed and happy too. It's still a long way from NFL (which I have also grown to follow) but it's headed in the right direction.

One of the most entertaining leagues there. Not so tactical, many times there is more speed than thinking but it makes this league entertaining.

I don't even know what to say. Everyone thought Philadelphia had won it. But Bale showed why Lafc signed him with that insane header and the death. You could see the stadium erupt. Hands down greatest game in MLS history. As an Atlanta United fan congratulations to Lafc, I was at MLS Cup 2018, so I know what their fans are going through. As for Philadelphia, you guys put so much work into this season but fell just short, but there's always next season.

hey man i never watch mls but i’m aware of the playoffs, east and west conference all that stuff and I see so many LA fans (seems they played in their stadium ) but why is the final not played in a neutral stadium ?

@@adamziet7826 It used to be neutral in a pre-determined stadium each year. But they changed it in 2013 to be hosted by the team in the final with the best regular season record. That year the Galaxy were already set to host and they made it to the final. The atmosphere was so great compared to previous finals that the league changed it. Honestly, its a great call. The only team GUARANTEED to have home field advantage in the final is the team with the best season record (the champ in most other leagues). But you still have to win two playoff games to get to the final as the #1 seed...

@Frankie Five Angels it’s too bad that they started out that way because it gives an unfair advantage in the tournament, I know I am bias but I still think European way where instead of a tournament just winning the league is better and having a tournament separate from the league somehow, even though just with the way the mls started it’s impossible for them to try and change that now

3-3, 2 overtimes, a rare goalie switch, and penalty kicks. One of the most entertaining games I have watched in a very long time.

New fan to MLS and this final was one of the most entertaining sporting events I have seen.

Congrats to both clubs from Italy, it's so nice to see the MLS get better year after year👏

Same, moved to the US from India and I got to say MLS has gotten so much better. This final was super electrifying, even though I couldn't be there at the stadium.

I try to explain to my American friends what it is that differentiates this game from all the others. America finally has a game with it all. Those last-minute low-to-high emotions are just not there for any other sport. LOVED seeing this. Amazing, and watching Bale come on and do his thing is the cherry on the cake.

This was by far the greatest game that I have ever witnessed in person be it baseball football or basketball. I will never forget this!

What a great final. I know European leagues and tournaments have much more quality but MLS is just as entertaining.

Actualy mls since the late 2010s is best league of the americas. Why? Cause usa canada attract top brazil argentina mexico league talents. You get paid in us$ and get to live in big modern american city as a multi millionaire Between playing in random mexican or brazil city. Being paid in pesos or reales. Instead of living in Miami Orlando San Diego Los Angeles New York Boston Texas etc. Being paid in us$. Plus a chance to get a usa or canada passport. The choice is quite easy But mls wont surpass europe quality. Unless they are able to pay more. And maybe lobby fifa to have a joint europe-americas champions league

Savvy American fans are well aware that MLS is (at the moment) far behind the European Big Five in terms of quality. We also anticipate that the gap will tighten considerably in the near future (6-8 years). At the moment, it's a question of evaluating why the average fan loves sport. Is it to watch the best possible product, or to watch the most compelling drama? The two are frequently mutually exclusive. There have been 14 MLS Cup champions in the last 16 years. This year's champion didn't exist six years ago. In Europe, every league has a small nucleus of contenders who win every year. How many consecutive BL championships have Bayern won? When was the last time a club NOT named Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish league? (Disclosure: I'm a die hard Celtic fan). The league (MLS) is high scoring. It is dramatic. Impossible comebacks are fairly common. And due to the league and season structure, a mid table, or even lower half side may remain in the championship picture very late in the season. For the record, when following MLS, the best story lines are top and mid table. At the top, they are vying for the Supporters Shield. Anywhere near mid table, they're angling for playoff position for the MLS Cup. Finally, there's a decent incentive for Europeans to follow MLS... We sell you our players by the bushel. What British fan WOULDN'T want to contact his club's board, demanding they make an offer for someone you've seen?

Almost brought me in tears watching Bale SCORED the equalizer from a Real Madrid fan. He’s doing amazing in America, and that technique in that goal. I miss you hear in Madrid, but what a match. What a goal. What a player. Once a Madridista, ALWAYS A MADRIDISTA

Doesn't matter what part of the globe you follow football. This is what is all about. What a match! So much so that I have friends from across the Atlantic who actually watched the game. Those who bash MLS are just bitter and don't know any better. Usually stuck in the past. But this is the MLS of today and moving forward. So much passion and drama. Finally getting around to watching these highlights. As a Sounders supporter, I can honestly say this is one of the greatest matches I've ever seen in any league.

still gives me chills watching this final. Gareth Bale may have only played a few games with LAFC but he's for sure a club legend. Also, can't forget about McCarthy. Dude had a spectacular performance coming off the bench!

Bale did more then just score the goal, he was decent at defending too, surprised to see him put in such an effort in such a short space of time but hats off to him.

As a Tottenham Hotspur fan, say what you like about Bale but he always delivers! Congratulations to Bale & LAFC!

MNUFC fan here. Congrats to LAFC they have been in the hunt just about every season since they have been established good to see them to win the cup. That being said can’t help but feel for Philly fans, your club played with a ton of heart and made it one of the best championship matches in MLS history.

No matter where Bale is at.. He loves a late goal. Legend

I know it’s sacrilege but I lowkey have always wished the EPL and other big European league titles came down to a playoff game. Nothing beats the thrill of a winner take all game

I was driving while listening to the game and I had to park my car after Philly scored 3-2. And I just had to see the end of it haha

what a game man. diehard philly fan here and i’m beyond proud of our boys for an amazing season. hopefully we don’t sell gazdag or blake and invest the paxten aaronson money well and maybe we’ll be back next year. congrats to la!

I’m an Atl fan but what a game

Bale was at the end of his career and went to mls. Did some hell of a performance in the finals and great defending. Scored a last minute goal to win the cup and retired. I would say he is an lafc legend lmao

That was honestly the greatest MLS game I've ever seen. It went back and forth, the crowd was going crazy. I know everyone talks about the Bale goal, but give huge credit to Palacios who almost lost the ball out of bounds, but ran it down and hit it towards net for the Bale goal. That was such an underrated play.

Saw it in person (there on the second deck above the Gareth Bale celebration). Easily the best MLS match I've ever seen and one of the top 4 events I've ever attended.
