Cadance didn't announce her pregnancy until the middle of Season 5, after the Mane 6 had already unlocked the chest of the Tree of Harmony. Perhaps Flurry Heart was conceived by the power of the tree in response to this, sort of a real-world mythological parallel to the concept of a virgin birth, as a sort of gift to Equestria. But nobody saw the connection.

What I think makes no sense is: Rarity talks about Princess Celestia's nephew, would that be Luna's son? It never says Luna's nephew.... but does Luna have a son? Do they secretly have a different sister? Why is he Celestia's nephew? Why does he look so much like princess Celestia? How is he her nephew?

She says Equestria "HAS NEVER SEEN THE BIRTH OF AN ALICORN." That Means They Have Been Around Since BEFORE Equestria Existed. BEFORE The Ponies United. BEFORE The Ponies Started Worshipping Them. The tree of Harmony is just a vessel that gives out magic thats meant to go to its perspective user. Its not some sentient being making Alicorns and controling Equestria. By the Two Sisters own words we know know they were Alicorns already. And there are no other Alicorns. In Twilights battle with Tyrek Celestia makes it clear that their magic CANT just disappear. It CANT just Go Away. They HAVE TO PUT IT IN SOMETHING. Now we come to the Tree of Harmony. Equestria was clearly not always this Happy Sunshine Peaceful Place. So logically if there are beings that have immense power to change things they will use it. BUT they obviously realized they needed something for Long Term. In the world of Magic, the Sun, Moon, Stars and Earth are the four Major bodies that you draw power from. And the tree of Harmony represents All of them. The sun that is Celestias cutie mark, the moon that is Lunas cutie mark, the star that is Twilights cutie mark and the Tree that connects these Celestial forces to the Earth and thus Represents the Earth. The Alicorns of old are gone because they GAVE UP THEIR POWER. Just like when Celestia, Luna and Cadence gave up their power to Twilight and became Mortal. They became basically glorified Horses at that point. Now Imagine the Alicorns of old Giving their powers of harmony and balance to Equestria. Theyd need something that was bound to the entire planet. Enter a Crystal Tree. In magic Crystals are used to AMPLIFY Power. Kinda Ironic that the Tree of Harmony is CLEARLY Made Of CRYSTAL. Crystals in magic are also used to STORE POWER. Like when you use a pendulum. The pendulum reacts to your energy that travels through the quatz crystal at the end youre holding and down through the metal chain to the crystal. The reaction is that the pendulum starts to swing based on your energy waves. Ive actually made pendulums for meditation and i assure you they work. So now we have a tree thats able to not only Store Magic but also Amplify it! But magic like most energy works best with things that conduct it well. Enter in the Elements Of Harmony. As its been made very clear throughout MLP, ALL PONIES POSSESS SOME FORM OF MAGIC. And that is where the Elements come in. The elements are most logically imbued with the magical energy of the Alicorn who imbued each trait of Harmony: Laughter, Loyalty, Honesty, Kindness, Generosity and of course the Magic that binds them all and creates Friendship. The magic gravitated to a pony who most exemplified the trait! Enter the main Six. Each one showed their traits at an early Age. Each one despite their hardships never lost their traits. And each one was bond together by one simple act making them even more special as a whole. This isnt being controlled by a Tree, but by the simply Force of the Magic that was Stored In the tree. The magic will gravitate to where it fits best. And that is in the main six. And even after they put the elements back it doesnt change the fact that the magic is now part of them. And thanks to Twilights Crystal Castle that magic will continue to be stored and amplified by every pony who discovers the Magic of Friendship and Harmony. Her Castle is basically a giant Friendship Cannon just storing up energy Just Like The Entire Crystal Empire is a giant Love Cannon. Love and Friendship Create Harmony. And that is why Skyla is an Alicorn. The magic she was surrounded with her entire life has been Love and Friendship and was absorbed into her before she was even born!! So of course before she even comes out she became an Alicorn. Because Alicorns are not Pawns.....They Are The Physical Embodiment OF HARMONY. All Three Tribes, In One Pony. So when Celestia says Equestria has never seen the Birth of an Alicorn, it means because its been so long since the land was Harmonious enough to support one. In the story of Heartswarming we learn that the land was not always unharmonious. The ponies lived in peace for a love time. But negative emotions started dividing them. Obviously you dont want a magical being as powerful as an Alicorn going bad because the land is bad and filled with negativity. We saw what happened with Luna and how Negativity can effect a powerful Alicorn and ultimately the entire World. So interesting video but thinking the tree is controling everything is way off the mark. The tree couldnt even defend itself. It needed the magic put back in it just for it to survive which says to me, that someone else created it. And those creators were the Alicorns that are no longer around because they sacrificed their immortality to ensure the budding Equestria would continue on.

Fushicho Kurayami Your theory is sort of like mine down bellow, except I think that long ago every pony was an alicorn but they where divided by disharmony and thus became the 3 types.. In the comment you can see most of the other stuff Some things to add is you don't need to include princess skyla (pretty sure she isn't cannon) and I also think it's pretty safe to assume the alicorn from the hearts and hoofs day is fictional too.. I know it would be weird to make a holiday out of a fictional story, but if she was a real alicorn then they probably would have named her by now. (At least that's what we will go with unless a "lengends of magic" comic comes out further developing hearts and hoofs) Also I'm pretty sure that the tree of harmony is sentient, or at least has the magic of olden alicorns inside who guide equestria (the only other possibility I would think is if an opposite of discord being the spirit of harmony lived and worked through the tree, also being the same one who created the world and original alicorn ponys in the first place) Onward, I know my theory of all ponys used to be alicorns is a bit weird and hard to back up, but to me it makes more since then alicorns just being a race far superior to the other types of ponys. How some alicorns remained could be that there where a few who kept their harmony and friendship amongst each other while the rest fell into disharmony, and the few left hid away until celestia and Luna where chosen, became alicorns, and found their way to them. One big reason this may be right is what we know about the childhood of princess celestia and luna. It's not much but we know that: 1. According to the journal of the two sisters, They spent some time being raised by alicorns 2. They have yet to speak of their parents 3. When star swirl found them they where supposedly around the cmc's age or older (going some off of legends of magic 1) and they where further thought magic by starswirl and have yet to master it. I think it's safe to assume they aren't full blown goddesses, it is strange that they don't remember their parents, but at the same time it was a long, long time ago, and barely remember their time with the alicorns. I would say that they where orphaned regular ponys (type up for debate) who proved their love towards each other with some amazing feat, became alicorns, where found by the other alicorns, and those alicorns could sense that the ponys survived the windigos and blizzard and that equestria was forming, so they casted an age spell and had to send them on their way to be found by starswirl. This might would answer why the sisters can still be a little immature at times, and how they still needed magic training from starswirl despite being raised by alicorns. Despite everything I said we will just have to wait and see for what the show and comics tell us about the yet to be named planet and the origins of pony kind. Discord likely fits into it some where (still confused as to why he appears in fiendship is magic #2 looking a lot more serious than his goofy self which takes place AFTER celestia and Luna where coronated.) But it's still to early to tell how the discord puzzle piece fits in, he seems to only remember far back as tirek and only started to cause trouble some time before Luna was banished... If you want I'll come up with some theorys surrounding discord, but it would be a lot of speculations. I'll just let this be it for now.

You keep mentioning in this video how the two Royal Sisters *choose* who is worthy of becoming an alicorn, but... I really just don't think that's the case. The two ponies who have become alicorns seem to have earned it by proving themselves from within, not by a way that can be seen so much as felt. If we just look at Twilight's transformation, Celestia would have no idea about what happened until Twilight had reached the Celestial Plain, at which point I think Celestia was only there to walk her through it and make sure she's okay. It wasn't Celestia that changed Twilight; the magic that made her an alicorn came from the Elements, and the last spark came from herself. We see the magic come out of her chest. Celestia doesn't interfere with anything during the process. It seems completely natural. Still love your theories though.

Celestia didnt say there is no such thing as a naturally born alicorn just that equestria didnt see a birth. especially since flurry is a naturally born alicorn so she couldnt even say it since it wouldnt be true. i think their born alicorns, as you mentined there is was a whole tribe/village of alicorns. why make a entire tribe if only a few are needed at most. for the worst times when discord ruled only 2 were needed? what was then while the whole tribe was around...

Honestly the "Equestria has never seen the birth of an alicorn' bit is less important than the "It is a great mystery". If alicorns are born then it is not a great mystery that one has been born. Therefore alicorns have not been born prior to Flurry Heart. The simple answer is of course this: "With that episode, the Journal of the Two Sisters has been expelled from canon." When it was first written, Hasbro had not yet decided that it wanted Cadence's child to be the unnatural abomination it turned out to be. What comes later over-rules what came before and in many ways having Luna and Celestia be raised by an entire village of alicorns was always a mistake in world building terms. A canonical village of alicorns isn't Chekov's Gun. It's Chekov's Nuclear Missile.

Celestia and Luna were born before Equestria was a nation, and founded by the three tribes. As such, it would make sense that Celestia says Equestria has never seen the birth of an alicorn. I do not buy that the Tree of Harmony created the Royal Sisters. On why the other alicorns are not shown or mentioned, I prefer the theory that Discord got rid of them much in the same way as described in Discordantly.

Here's my theory: Celestia and Luna weren't born as alicorns, they were CREATED as alicorns. If they were born as one of the other pony races, one of them surely would have said something about it by now to Twilight or somepony else. That's why Celestia and Luna's parents are never mentioned. They don't exist. That's why a race of alicorns is never mentioned. Who created them? The Tree of Harmony to act as its agents? Starswirl the Bearded to act as sole agents to control the sun and moon instead of a herd of unicorns? Perhaps even Discord himself made Celestia and Luna as his playthings to manage the affairs of ponies while he just screwed around with reality? Perhaps some yet to be revealed being made them for some unfathomable reason? I imagine Celestia and Luna wouldn't want to discuss such things with anypony. Since they were the first alicorns, it could explain the flaw in Luna that turned her into Nightmare Moon and how it was fixed by the Elements of Harmony.

Harmony is a deity. The elements are her avatars through which she channels her direct power, and the alicorn are her independent agents. I'm not the best to explain it, it came from a good friend of mine, but she blew my mind.

key phrase "never seen before in Equestria" it's likely that they were not originally Equestria born. Take note that C&L obtained the EoH prior to them facing Discord, and that they could possibly be interconnected with the Tree of Harmony to a point, considering they had their first castle built directly over it, probably to protect it from an evil that could end it's existence forever... I don't sugar coat the obvious here, and I agree with everything you said, but there is a part of me that thinks there could still be a long lost alicorn civilization beyond​ Equestrian borders... that none of them knows about... a civilization that has excluded itself from the world, to survive an evil that could be hunting for them... sorry, went crazy. Maybe there was a time a long time ago where every pony was an alicorn? .. but for this to work would mean that celestia and luna where infact natural born alicorns, or where just deamed alicorns by the tree of harmony at a very early age. Here is a little time line of how this works.. - Everypony is an alicorn - Disagreements start between different nations of alicorns, the tree of harmony (or just something else) divides them into 3 groups: unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponys - Many years pass as the 3 groups divide equestria and struggle to coroporate, mean while there are very few alicorns left being guided by the tree of harmony - Luna and Celestia accomplish some feat and are deamed alicorns, one of the alicorns finds them and brings them back - they spend their time with the alicorns until the 3 groups of ponys set aside their differences to survive the winter (before hand royal canterlot being ruled by the unicorns) The alicorns send them on their way to the new equestria forming - Star swirl finds the two and modern equestria starts to form It's an interesting theory but it makes some since.. The reasoning behind the old alicorns sending luna and celestia is because the tree of harmony chose them to become alicorns, having it be their destiny to rule over equestria. Why flurry heart is an alicorn is strange though, as to what the 4 alicorns coulden't accomplish with out another alicorn. It might be the tree of harmony attempting to show the ponys that they are comming along to proving themselves worthy of all becoming alicorns again, but we'll see what the future holds.

So essentially, the tree is kind of like the Fal'Cie in Final Fantasy XIII, and the alicorns are essentially the L'Cie. Disposable tools that are forged to carry out the will of others, and who are only kept active as long as they are needed. That's some serious lore theory you have there!! O_O

I think they were chosen because they use to be twins before the nightmare-moon 'incident'.

From what we've seen in the show tho Celestia and Luna found the tree as alicorns. Therefore the made by the tree theory is out the window. One video ghosty suggests that both the princesses hail from a far off land where naturally born alicorns reside. Since this theory is also non canon it's only speculation as well. But sounds a little more believable

I don't know if I wanna believe that the tree of harmony is some kind of machine for alicorn production... It just sounds, I dunno... weird? confusing? wrong?

I was thinking about the fact that- well, somewhere, it was years ago- I read something about Cadence being Celestia’s niece. I assumed it must have meant Cadence was Luna's daughter. My dad rejected this idea, suggesting maybe she had another sister. Now I'm thinking maybe Luna is just the one who made Cadence an alicorn.

My personal head cannon/theory is that all ponies of mixed ancestry of all three pony types are Alicorns, and it takes exposure to large amounts of magic to create the body with both wings and horn that is recognized as an Alicorn. As for the tree of harmony, I'm more inclined to think that it's a tool created by that all but forgotten tribe of Alicorns. There is nothing to link Flurry Heart to the tree, and it is far more likely that it was exposure to the magical field of the Crystal Heart that turned her into an Alicorn at such an early age. Now if the writers were to follow along the same line of thinking, I'd expect Shining Armor to become an Alicorn sometime in the not so distant future.

...wow. I absolutely love dark theories like this, and this is pretty likely. It's cool how the alicorns are just tools, doing everything that the tree wanted them to. It's interesting, and I love this theory. Great job!

the theory is pretty elaborate but I don't think this theory would be canon because of it being so elaborate but I like how you thought out of the box for that theory.

On the night mare night episode Twilight says: "since your parents were born from mixed results" (she says it to Luna)

I hope The Alicorn Amulet makes another reappearance in Season 7 because I want to see it take control of Twilight Sparkle that should be a real Season 7 episode

@Moliminious, I believe in what you say about Luna and Celestia being tools is true due to the fact that the Tree of Harmony had the Sun and Moon symbol drawn or carved onto it when the Mane 6 unlocked the box given to them by the Tree, but if Flurry Heart is another tool from the Tree of Harmony, why does it not show the symbol of what Flurry will be on the Tree as well?

yes. dhey was once upon a time an alicorn tribe, but when the tree of harmony choosed tia and luna as some sort of tool, dhey become immortal. and the other alicorns just simply ascended to a higher realm,when dhey body just went nonfunction by old age.

Celestia and Luna were born alicorns. They were just born before equestria was founded, since the princesses said that the birth of an alicorn is something that EQUESTRIA hasn't seen. They never said anything about the time before the founding of equestria.

Have you seen the fan made series "princess Trixie Sparkle"? Because later on in the story there´s a pretty realistic and logical past, which also explains why Celestia is still a "Princess" and not a "Queen".

there was a cannon where it explained that maybe Celestia and Luna (and the ponies like them, where they come from) had to earn their wings and or horn. Just like we see with Twilight. It was also said they came to Equestria to help bring peace. Discord was in control at that time and it sucked. They are making princesses so that one day they might return to the place they came from. I don't remember who made the cannon though.

Hmmm, since celestia is older, she would have never seen her self born because of how young she was at the time, she would be to young to remember, she is over 1000 years old. Luna probably would not have remembered her birth either, I think Celestia didn’t get to witness her sisters birth because they didn’t let her? I guess they intended to be technical when they said that?

Now that I think of it, Luna and Celestia don’t look alike genetically, but there are genitcal values to support that, or there is something darker about it?

Y'know they have parents.... On the official mlp wiki it states that Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos are Luna and Celestia's parents...

Celestia was a unicorn turned into an alicorn while Luna was a pegasus turned into an Alicorn.

I like to imagine some Ratchet & Clank / Dr. Who situation; where the Alicorns faced some great evil (maybe a war with the Draconequus') and magicked themselves and the evil they fought to another dimension. Celestia and Luna were too young at the time and were saved by their parents from the event, leaving them the only Alicorns left in Equestria.

I'm sticking to what the original creator stated. Celestia and Luna were the only natural born alicorns in Equestria. Since Equestria wasn't founded until the three pony tribes joined together thousands of years ago, it stand to reason that the two were living somewhere outside of Equestria up until that point. Also, I don't believe they "made" Twilight or Cadence into alicorns. That was something the two of them earned over time by completely mastering their skills and obtaining a perfect understanding of themselves and others and using what they've learned to teach others.

I honestly think two things about Flurry. 1. She's Celestia and Cadence's DNA, not shining. If you really look at Flurry, it could make since! 2. Celestia and Luna are big liars. They made sure she was an alicorn, whether they did it with magic or science, it could be true. But IDK, they're just theories!

Equestria hasn't seen a natural alicorn birth because they, being the only natural alicorns, are older than equestria.

The thing that makes the answer simple to me is that, the princess sisters have elongated bodies. Even though Twilight was transformed into an Alicorn she was still a natural average pony size. So in conclusion, I believe that differentiates born and created Alicorns.

YES! I CALLED IT! My book that I'm currently working on has to do with the tree of Harmony and the alicorns with the tree one being a unicorn. She is a alicorn but she doesn't keep her wings on her for long. I even have a another character that knows the tree of Harmony which is also similar to Discord, but the difference of Discord, he let things be destructive but he also wants to see if things can be unfolded to be fixed.

Of _course_ they're naturally born Alicorns! They were around way before the founding of Equestria, thus Equestria has never seen any natural born Alicorns. Proof of this can be seen on the flag of Equestria, which hasn't changed since Equestria was founded.

I think there are likely other Alicorns existing but their just not in Equestia, it could be that Celestia and Luna were born in another land but then bought to Equestia as fillys once they gained their cutie marks. Maybe Star Swirl is the Tree of Harmony or at least connected to it in some manner. The trouble is, the show just does not explore its lore very well, it brings things up and then simply drops them, such as Tirek, he got out, ran amock for a time and then reimprisoned and then nothing, not a peek out of him. Another charater who not been explored is Sombra, thou I would like for him to show up in Equiesta girls, seeing as his Pony counterpart got destoryed or something.

Starswirl had created the tree with the pillars through a binding magic of Harmony derived from him and his compatriots. Now with the new comic of a Canon nature coming out revealing Celestia and Luna's early training and mentorship by starswirl, as well as the founding of the castle of the two sisters, we know them to be before the tree. Even more odd. We can also from the new episode coming up potentially determine how old Celestia is as well as how long she has served equestria. I recall in the leak a very specific date for her sun rising anniversary.

Eden Trevino, please use actual commas, grammar, and good spelling. i hate people who don't put grammar, and commas, and even no periods. its very annoying. THIS is how you should've said it: "I think that Luna and Celestia are lying, and that they were born Alicorns because they don't want anypony to know the past more than they already know, and why is Celestia's hair on the flag green? Celestia said that Equestria had never seen an Alicorn birth in many years.

I wanted the show to have a not entirely happy ending. It would have involved Celestia and Luna traveling into the land of the Alicorns. Otherwise known as whatever the Greek word for heaven is. I was hoping they would sail into the sky on a ship, but the possibility that they could be absorbed into the tree is even more interesting. I doubt the show staff will do anything remotely like this, but still it is an amazing consideration.

But here’s a thing I thought of, what if they weren’t born in Equestria but still loved there for as far as they could remember. They did say “Equestria has never seen the birth of an alicorn” rather than saying the birth of an alicorn has never been seen before. Also here’s another theory, but what if Celestia and Luna are the last of their kind and are making artificial alicorns in hope to bring back the race. Since when they give a unicorn wings or a pegasus a horn they genetically change them, it makes the birth of Flurry Heart possible since Cadence in this case would be an artificial alicorn like Twilight. The ‘genetically modified’ theory isn’t originally mine, but as far as I know I never heard a theory saying Celestia and Luna may be the last of their kind or at least can’t remember if I’m the one who made it up. Idk

Well that does make sense and it fits with the fact that we know Princess Twilight will not outlive her friends.

Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's Parents are alicorns.That is why they said that Flurry Heart's birth is a surprise as her parents are an alicorn (Princess Cadence)and a unicorn (Shining Armor).

Not to debunk any theories but if you remember correctly in the Crystaling the princesses also state that they aren't sure how flurry heart was a born alicorn, not just because it hadn't been seen in Equestria but they themselves hadn't seen it. And if you think about it when dignitaries and royalty from other lands have visited Equestria there haven't been any alicorns. It's appearing safe to say that alicorns are purely an Equestria thing and can only happen when a UNICORN proves themselves worthy of becoming a princess. It's also safe to say that Luna, Celestia and cadence were all born unicorns, most likely in the royal family. Also I'd like to bring up the fact that Celestia and Luna are cadences aunts and yet we had no knowledge of them having had another sibling. There also isn't another alicorn princess related to them. So isn't it safe to say that the two sisters had a unicorn brother that sired cadence? If the princesses are more than a thousand years old and they look so young then isn't it possible that cadence is also much older than we thought she was and her father and mother have long since passed away? We've never seen them before, nor have they ever been mentioned. It is possible

Sorry to debunk your theroy but cannon has stated that Cadence was an orphan and taken in by Celestia and that she is in no means related by blood to the two sisters and Cadence was originally a peagus.

The ponies aren't from Equestria originally. They left wherever the came from, when their original fighting attracted the windigos and made the land unliveable. It's possible that alicorns are an extremely rare convergence of the tree tribes and usually strong magic. Flurry Heart is simply the first alicorn BORN in Equestria, instead of coming from another land. It might be that alicorns exist (or existed) elsewhere, but they are very rarely born; they are more often made, as needed. If alicorns require a certain kind and strength of magic to become so, then Equestria has never seen an alicorn birth for the very reason that the right *natural* magic did not exist in Equestria before. Whether Celestia and Luna were born alicorns or were created as they did to Twilight and Cadence, it happened beyond Equestria. Flurry Heart was likely born so from a combination of the extra magic her mother commands, and the unique natural magic and magical importance of the Crystal Empire.

I don't know if there already is one but I really want to see a video explaining nightmare moon and day breaker

There needs to be a My Little Pony Season 7 episode where Celestia and Luna reveal they both lied about Natural born Alicorns and that they also lied about Equestria's past and history

what i think is the right theory: celestia and luna WERE naturally born alicorns. In some episodes u can see maps of equestria. And i think not the whole pony dimension is just equestria. Because if u look close at the maps u can see that there are some other 'countries' around the equestria (like saddle arabia or the land tirek came from).Celestia said that birth of an alicorn is thing that equestria never seen. EQUESTRIA never seen. So that (maybe) means ponies can give birth to alicorns in other country. (or maybe there is only alicorn country)

When they say "in Equestria" for Flurry Hearts to be Alicorn. I'm assuming Celly and LuLu mean literally IN Equestria because they--what lived there for centuries or so? However they came somewhere else soooooo..... their world and life style is different

This is a bit long My theory is that Celestia and luna where probably born before Equestria was found and spent there childhood in a different universe with their parents Queen Galaxia and the dad.Talking about that I THINK that Queen Galaxia needed to leave Celestia and Luna to take care of Equestria when they found it.If you think about it why are Celestia and Luna called "Princesses" This means that Queen Galaxia is still Queen because if your a leader of a planet you'd obviously be called Queen.Right?

Celestia and Luna are more powerfull than the other Alicorns, Luna says that at the Crystalling "Even OUR magic is lost to the frozen north" which means practically that. The Tree CANT have mad the Alicorns, Because Starswirl and the pillars made the tree but they didnt know that it grown into it (last episodes of season 7) but we do know Celestia and Luna were Starswirls people, sooo impossible. And in the Hearts Warming eve episode Twilight says that her teacher starswirl the bearded told her about the windigoes, so it could be that celestia and Luna were already born and in training at starswirls, and became rulers of equestria first after starswirl vanished and they turned discord to stone

If you remember. The tree of harmony has 2 empty slots where the moon and sun are. So that would probably be the gift from the tree to Celestia and Luna to become alacorns. As for the rest of the alicorns...have you seen the very first MLP with the goat that controls lightning? His power is also to turn ponies to stone since he didnt like them for some reason. Perhaps he turned all the alicorns to stone and took them to his kingdom.

You missed something. Clover the Clever was the student of Starswirled. Luna and Celestia knew Starswirled. Therefore, they were around before Equestria was founded. Makes sense that they existed, but weren't involved in the affairs of the three tribes.

People say the reason is that they never got to *see* themselves born. But Celestia is OLDER then Luna and would have *seen* her as a baby/toddler. So that’s completely debunked

I believe that Celestia and Luna were unicorns (I'm not going into detail about them being unicorns or not) and weren't born as alicorns. This is because in the journal it says ' we'd pretend we were princesses' The alicorns that we know of in Equestria, are princesses. So if they were born alicorns they would have had to be princesses, but they weren't princesses. Therefore they weren't born alicorns

Flurry heart isn't a natural alicorn, she's a fake one just like cadence. If twilight had a foal someday (probably will never happen in the show) there is a chance that that baby will be an alicorn.

Now this those make sense.

One quick thing the tree of Harmony grew out of a seed that Star Swirl the Bearded, Mage Meadowbrook, Somnambula, Rockhoof, Flash Magnus and Mistmane (the legendary six) planted before they went into the void. Star Swirl the Bearded had been teaching Princess Celestia and Luna for a few years before this happened. So that I could have been the tree of Harmony yet. And the wendigo which tried to freeze up all the ponies for arguing which then became hearths warming happened before the legendary six.

I love this video and channel, but I'm gonna say this now. This is how the video is. The Beginning: HEY GUYS!!! After intro: *quietly* So this is what we'll be going over today (just a random example) I hope this doesn't sound like hate, but this is a piece of constructed criticism. Regarding the flag, they only use their modern flag as a symbol, in other words, they have left lost the original flag and therefore use the newly-available flag. Remember that for about 1000 years they have only had Princess Celesstia in the flag, but the new one has both sisters, clear evidence that they only use today's flag.

That also explains the flowing hair (For the tree made )

Near the end I kinda got the thought of what if there was more to Lunas transformation the just being ignored and jealous. If they really are just pawns what if Luna figured it out and that sent her over the edge. To me she seems like the type to not take "being used" very well and if she did figure it she probably wouldn't want to tell Celestia so that she wouldn't have to carry the burden of knowing everything they've ever done was planed out by another.

This was a great theory but sad to say that the tree was create by starwirs and the first 5 elements of harmony like we see in seasone 7 finale

DISCLAIMER: I don't know anything that hasn't been shown in the show it'self. If someone has information on this subject that i may be unaware about, PLEASE. Do not hesitate to inform me 3:00 Alright. About the flag. If you call back to the story of Teirek (or, however you spell the name) Starswirl was part of that story, and so was Luna & Celestia. Also, to further enhance this comment, the character Twilight is playing in the Heart's Warming Eve episode is (I believe) explicitly said to be Starswirl's apprentice. So yes, i would believe that Celestia and Luna do exist at this point. However that does leave me with one question. Actually, several. Why would Luna & Celestia let things get so out of hand? What was Starswirl doing in all of this? Why, whenever Celestia & Luna were explaing Teirek's story, they said that he planned to destroy all of Equestria? when in fact, (if the info above is correct) we know that Equestria more than likely didn't exist at this point. Unless......How do we know Starswirl never became an alicorn? has it ever been written down somewhere that there have only been female alicorns? this would explain his appearance in the Teirek story... Or maybe it's just a usual oversight in consistency. yeah, sure that's just it.

I always had a headcanon that the tree chose Celestia and Luna to become Alicorns. It makes me excited to see that someone else has the same general idea as well. C:
