The Unknown truly is terrifying, you have no clue what hides under the blankets. As the old saying goes "The Darkness isn't scary, but inside Is"

Thalassophobia is a fear I have. It was hard going to the beach for the first time. I know I have it and no one else does. It's just scary because I almost drowned in a pool twice. The first time I was too short and too small. I fell out of my float and couldn't swim. The second time was when I fell into the pool and couldn't get back up without swallowing some water and spitting out some water too. Thalassophobia probably came from the first time I nearly drowned to death and this fear probably got worse the second time when I fell into a pool. I was so scared when I went to the beach. I stayed so close to the shore and had to sit down because the water would only go a little bit above my ankles. I was so scared that I couldn't even look at the ocean behind me. I faced the opposite direction hoping I could ignore the fact that the ocean was behind me. It was scary. It had me shaking and I had a really anxious, nervous feeling. My heartbeat was a bit faster, I had this feeling like I just wanted to be anywhere else, I was afraid to go any further than where I was, I thought I was going to die at the time, I was hoping to leave because I was so terrified, and through all of this I managed to just ignore this fear even if it was just a tiny bit. I kept myself occupied by collecting seashells, it was the only distraction I could find, and it didn't really help. This fear is so bad that I'd rather die than face it again whether it'd be the ocean, or some lake... I'm so terrified that I'm afraid to even learn how to swim. I think learning this will only make me able to go into deeper water I can't touch the bottom in. I am afraid and I hide this fear, Thalassophobia, from anyone who knows me. I took a bunch of those online Thalassophobia tests to see if I had it and all of them said that I have it. I never got it confirmed by a professional but I know that I have it. My parents don't know that I have it and absolutely no one knows. I don't talk about it because I don't want to be forced to face it by someone else. Facing this fear and trying to overcome it is like a nightmare coming true, a hell for me... I can't even imagine that, facing my fear and overcoming it.. I didn't know what my fear really was for a long time until I heard of Thalassophobia. When I finally heard of Thalassophobia I knew that it was something I had. It was the name of something I had and didn't know the name of. It's just my fear, Thalassophobia. Anyways this was a great video and fanfic I found...

A phobia could also just be a very intense fear. Like spiders for example, sure, you can be scared of them and leave rooms they are in, but people with a phobia of them could have full on anxiety attacks, blurry vision, shaky hands, and maybe more in worse situations ^^

As a thalassophobe this is the first mlp grimdark to really scare me

Anything with Cloud 9 and Lost will 100% be a masterpiece

This is interesting because horses do have a fear of water, including water they can't see the bottom of

Honestly, I have thalassophobia and I didn’t even drown- however, I have a strong fear of sharks… I swim in my pool and if I’m not in a crowded area, I immediately become afraid something is there. I NEED my pool lit, and to be with someone or I will get intense anxiety. It scares me all the time, I’m shallow waters I feel nothing… I fear dark waters that I can’t see the bottom of. If I’m on a cruise ship or something, I don’t mind it. But actually swimming in it..? I’d freak the fuck out. Edit: ok now that I think about it, I think I know why I am afraid of it. There’s 2 vents at the bottom of the deep end of the pool… they lowkey look like eyes… especially in the dark. I think that’s what made me afraid for so long, seeing them and thinking that something was down there. I often avoided being in the deep end for a long period of time for many reasons and that was one of them. Perhaps that’s where it stemmed from….

I might have this fear actually. I sometimes dont like to be in a very deep end of a pool sometimes. Im talking 10ft or deeper. Something about that deeper end of a pool is very uncomfortable. In my mind I think a sea monsters gonna come out of nowhere and get me. Like a giant squid or something.

Well then- that definitely didn’t help with AJ’s fear

When you go through trauma, your brain intentionally makes you forget as a way to protect you from further trauma, making you feel like you have gaps in your memories!

Just why wouldn't rarity believe applejack about the water monster?

Spoiler; I can’t help but wonder if there’s some deeper subtext to this story. Particulary at the word, yellow. Sure it’s used to symbolize death, but there’s also a way to use it to call someone a coward. Are you yellow? Your boy yellow? So a part of me is wondering if, maybe, Applejack, in a rage of furry, drowned that unnamed filly and rarity for calling her yellow/scared of the water, and to cope she tries to hide what happened/suppress her menmories

Why exactly did the aquatic monster kill off the little filly?
