MLB Stealing Home

Spoiler Alert, only 10% of the video involves true "stealing of home" the rest of the video is nothing but terrible defensive decisions that even a little league player wouldn't make. Pro-tip, the double steal works...don't throw to 2nd, ever, if a guy is on third.

Any time a runner steals home, the defense is at a disadvantage because the umpire, no matter how experienced, are still human and would absolutely love to call someone 'safe' on a stealing home situation.

If the pitcher pitches during a steal attempt, is it still a strike/ball, or does it not count as a pitch?

If the pitcher steps off, it's not a pitch. If he comes set and delivers the ball to the plate, it is a pitch, and is then judged to either be a strike or ball.

Multifandom's Problem basically, runners try to advance to the next base (or home if they're on third) without the ball being actually put in play by the hitter. Usually, you will see it when a pitcher is begins his motion to deliver a pitch. It is not that simple though; if you run too early, the pitcher might get you by throwing to the base instead of pitching towards home, and you'll be caught in a rundown; on the other hand, if you wait too long after the pitcher begins to pitch, a catcher will have a lot of time to throw to the base and will probably beat you, specially in the majors, those catchers have great arm strength and accuracy. Stealing home, presented in the video, is the rarest kind of stealing.

Short version: The ball is either "alive" (in play) or "dead". The ball goes dead when a time is called, a foul can't be caught, fan interference happens, etc. but most of the time the ball is in play. Whenever it's alive, base runners are allowed to try and advance to the next base. But this is risky - if you aren't touching a base you're fair game to be put out.
