    The best friend vibes between these two is so powerful. They get each other so well. I love it Edit. Also. The headfirst slide is a way to get ground faster and get to the base. Vs a standard slide which is more casual, just not standing up so its harder to tag. Just imagine the motion if lunging forward vs the motion of dropping backward to your slide leg.

    I’d also probably say it helps them have a slightly better chance of being able to reach around a close tag. It’s a split second decision but it’s also the “majors” so most have crazy reaction times anyway.

    Sliding face down or legs down just has to do with avoiding the tag. Face down you can target the corner of the bag or pick a side of the base. Legs down tends to be just to make the tag harder in general but has less directionality.

    If you’re in a full sprint your body is at a really forward angle. So if you’re sprinting rather than a quick jog (like on an outfield shot) it’s quicker to follow momentum forward than switch to a foot slide

    Eh maybe a tiny bit it's all situational. But for sure can lean out of the baseline with a head first slide to make the tag harder. But also it's faster than a lean back slide.

    @@Spam-pq2sgif you’re stealing 2nd you should slide feet first like 99% of the time. Head first will slow you down. If you’re slow anyways trying to advance bases, head first is a great way to avoid the tag

    ​@@poindextertunesyou should slide feet first because you can bounce back up and run better than sliding head first if the baseman loses the ball. The sweep for the tag is the same. There's no dodging it on the slide once committed.

    The slide is probably determined by which foot is pushing, and what the baller sees in front of him. Sometimes you lay back, sometimes you dive.

    Sliding head first vs feet first is dictated entirely by the coverage of the baseman. You use whatever is easier to avoid the defender and tag.

    Carlos Baerga was a big prospect who never really popped off, pronounced bye-air-guh (I think I had that card) Head first slides are just easier for momentum but they are more dangerous sometimes and guys usually go feet first at home bc they don’t have to stop John Smoltz being a hair commercial guy is pretty funny because he was one of the first balding athletes I remember, he was in his prime at like 28 and had a full horseshoe going on

    JfC as a braves fan, y'all making me hard with the Avery, Mcgriff, Smoltz combo!!! These are absolute LEGENDS in Atl from the 90s domination era. Fun fact: Mcgriffs first at bat was home run and then a fire broke out in the Fulton County Stadium (most ghetto sports complex of all time) and we started calling him Firedog. That was two stadiums ago. The braves finally gave up and went to the burbs.

    Dan or Michelle, whichever one of you has that Hideo Nomo card I will pay you double it's value if you sell it to me. Nomo was my favorite Dodger for most of my life (Ohtani knocked him down to 2nd now) and I've been getting back into trading cards (because of this show ironically) and would kill to have Nomo's card on my shelf.
