He was justified, and I forget if he appealed any fine and/or suspension but if he did, all of it should have been overturned and that umpire’s conduct investigated.

If you need to by physically restrained, yea, they can grab you around the neck. And they should. You're a grown man who can't handle authority.

  • 2 ай бұрын

Think about it for a second. 99.99% of contact you will see initiated by an umpire is done as a restraint. They are restraining a player for whatever reason. The odd time (see the Leland clip) the ump is in the wrong and should be fined. Every time there is contact initiated by the player it is done in an aggressive "attacking" manner. Those are the ones that get tossed and fined. Just because a player makes contact with an umpire does not mean he gets tossed. There are lots of videos of catchers intervening with an umpire in order to save his pitcher after the ump gets pissed for whatever reason. There is almost always contact of some sort because the catcher steps in front of the umpire to block his path. This leads to hands on the chest or the ump bumping the catcher yet the catcher doesn't get tossed out. Why? It is not an aggressive type of contact. The simple fact is that you are not allowed to touch a game official in an aggressive angry manner. It is not tough to comprehend why. If you are not mature enough to keep your cool as a "professional" and an adult maybe you shouldn't be on the field....

I'm right with anyone else that umpires can male some ludicrous calls. But umpires have a tough job too, and they are necessary to the whole process (until a.i. replaces them, but before it replaces the players), and professional athletes need to remember the professional part of the title

  • 2 ай бұрын

they are using ai in AAA and the clowns are still getting tossed for arguing balls/strikes. It will never completely replace human decision making. Umps are damn good at what they do despite what the average "fan" sitting in the nosebleeds thinks. The system MLB uses to grade the ump shows that they are correct over 95% of the time on their balls and strikes and the guys that have come through the minors using the system are correct even more frequently then that. The "strike zone box" you see on tv is similar to what MLB uses but is a few inches off of the official zone. It is quite interesting to see how the system works if you get a chance....

Umpires think they are invincible, I can’t wait for the league to fire a lot of them for technology. EVERY bad call should be a fine against them.

  • 2 ай бұрын

never gonna happen. The umps are not going to get "fired for technology". They have been using robo ump in AAA for years now and the infants are still getting tossed for arguing balls/strikes. The system has numerous flaws and is less accurate at times then the actual human umpires. The umpires in MLB are actually graded in every game. The "box" you see on tv is similar to what MLB uses to grade the umps. It is a couple inches of difference so if you see what looks like a ball on TV it may actually register as a strike on the official system. Despite what you children think, according to the system MLB uses the umpires are correct over 95% of the time. The guys that came up through the system with the grading being done are accurate even more of the time to the point of being margin of error perfect consistently. Do yourself a favor, sit back, have another beer, enjoy the game and leave the actual rule knowledge and calls to the professionals that obviously know way more than you do....

Umps need to be held accountable for bad calls. If it decides a game they need to be fined and suspended just like the players.
