    Good evening. I'm having troubles configuring my MKs Gen_L V1.0 mother to use with TMC2209 drivers. I got 4 MKS 2209 V2.0 drivers, and set them up as video indicates (first leaving 3 jumpers on, then disconnecting the right one under each driver). Then modify voltages for 1v X axis, 1.2v Y axis, 1V Z axis, and 1.2 E1 axis (Extruder). Then , calibrate steps/mm on each axis usigno the formula indicated on manual (360/1.8)* 16 / X. I have 2 ACME screws each one for X and Y axis, with 8mm lead each one, and 2 acme screws for Z axis, with 2mm lead each one, working together., so, the set was (400, 400, 1600, 94) on each driver (X, Y, Z, E1). When defined the name of the driver (TMC22090), system took the reference as an UART enabling order, which is wrong, cause this mother model has no UART connection. Then changed it back to the original A4988, but still works wrong. The symptom is a loud noise on X and Y axes, with lost of steps, meaning that bed and hotend misses their positions, making impossible to use the printer. Would you kindly help me to define which other changes must I do on config files? Thanks in advance.

    I installed the tmc2209 on the 4 axis and it's set (Driver Current) x: 800 y: 800 z: 800 E1: 800 And the driver ref v I put 1.25 is correct? Note: They are moving very fast and making noise.

    How do you make UART mode work on an Arduino? (Not 3D printer) The TMC2209 V2.0 from Makerbase does not read/write on UART pin (PDN_UART). Why is it connected to 0 ohm resistor R8? I have a 1k ohms resistor between TX/RX as per the datasheet.

    Excuse me, I bought a MKS Robin e3D but it does not contain eeprom on the screen selection and I cannot save the adjustments . It does not allow me to install Marlin. I have viewed many videos, and my compilation is a success. but the board does not detect marlin or the actualization of the frimeware. I would appreciate your help very much.

    I am lost. When reading the SGEN L manual (called datasheet) on the github, it says absolutely no jumpers under the driver for TMC2209. (page 43), but jumpers installed for XUART just beside the driver. In this video, it shows no jumpers on the XUART connectors beside the driver, but a jumper under the driver. As both sources seems to be official, which one should I trust?

    Could someone please explain me what justifies the need for a 3.3V VIO on the TMC2209 to allow for sensorless homing ? Is it a workaround for the endstop pullup resistors ? And in that case, why not just use any other available pin to connecct the DIAG signal ?

    @Makerbase Team : What in any Trinamic or MKS datasheet or schematic would require to power the TMC2209 with 3.3V to have a sensorless homing ?

  • @ndupontnet

    @ndupontnet

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Makerbase Team ? From what I've found on some forums, the external pullup resistors are also identified as the culprit here. I think that 3.3V is just a strange way to get the TMC2209 go "LOW" for the MKS GEN L, although it's actually going "HIGH" for its own reference. Additional jumpers to cut R7, R9 from the circuit would do a better job. Or just let them away completely and activate the pullup from the 2560 chip :) Another way if we really want to stick to the X_MIN Y_MIN inputs, is to use a pair of small transistors to "inverse" the DIAG signal at the J13 bridge, or better yet, on the TMC2209 StepStick itself on a next version :) :)

  • @ndupontnet

    @ndupontnet

    4 жыл бұрын

    Having now done it on both my 3D printers, I can confirm that it's just a matter of plugging the DIAG signals to any available pins near the temperature sensor connectors. It does not even require a pull-down resistor, which was quite a surprise as the TMC2209 specs seem to indicate that it's left floating when not active.

    Hello Makerbase team. To get it to work you have to get the good combination between hardware and software. There is no problem with the board that is nice and working well. I found the solution that could interest some others. My configuration is MKS GEN L 2.1/ MKS TMC2209 V2.0 and Marlin 2.XX bugfix. Visual Studio as compiler. My jumpers were at the right place : position 3 as documented plus X min for sensorless. I finally found the source of this error message that can be confusing : there is a "bug" with Marlin that is linked to the startup procedure. I mean you have to start your PSU (12V or 24v) and after that you can connect the USB to the PC . Doing that there is no more error. M122 code give status oK. Everything is fin, smooth and silent... After some hassle the solution was so simple (as usual):).

    What is the rated current of your machine's motor? This current setting needs to be a little less than the rated current of your motor. For example, if the rated current of your motor is 1000mA, you need to set the current to 800mA. In the marlin setting, the set current is multiplied by 1.41 to get the peak current, such as If you want the current 800mA, the current on the firmware needs to be set to 567mA

And the forked marlin ver form mks does not compile and the bin file ( pre made software ) are useless for 99% of the marked, due to no possibility to customize software to suit. Hope that this comment get to the right ears and get sorted sooner rather than later it wood be nice for a change to get a working affordable product whit out the need to do a total remap and spend 100 hours or so to get it to work like intended....

    Sir, this is related to Marlin's version. Because the motherboard was newly released soon, malrin only added it in the bugfix2.0.x version. 2.0.6 does not have this motherboard type. So you only need to use the bugfix version

So can you take in to consideration that this my be partly, the source to the problems that encores when users are trying to use your MKS SGen L whit LPC 1769 chip. The thing is there is no sort of warning or info in sales add that you need to use beta software, or that this card my need some more knowlage or Work to get it to function. There are many out there that have the same problem and need to spend hours to get it to work if they have the skills needed to do so. But for most its a brick, AND i`s useless until stabile software or pre compiled software works. And there is no tutorials that actually addresses this in any way. @@helge1104 I find the videos rarely contain enough information to help the audience that actually needs the help. Those pins they point to are essentially 3 across, and 4 up/down. Is it too difficult to draw a picture of 3 circles across, and 4 circles up/down, label the rows 1, 2, 3 and the columns 1, 2, 3, 4 and then take a red line and draw the actual settings of the jumpers. For example, I want UART, Sensorless Homing, and 16 microsteps. using the example table as described, where do the jumpers go? If MakerBase is doing proper design work, they already have this defined in their initial design documents. What is real easy for some, is not so for others. I am retired, and am one of those that figures I don't need to understand everything, I just need to know where the documents are. Isn't that what this internet thingy was for originally? BTW, I have gone back and forth between bugfix and release builds with various mainboards, and honestly, I have only had one issue, and that was in 2.0.6 bugfix. It was fixed before I was able to even ask about it, switched to 2.0.6.1.

    @@helge1104 I understand that there are very likely no native english speaking employees there, but, they don't even try to create instructions for the masses. I worked a long time for a fax/modem sharing company as the support manager. One thing I made sure of was that all documents needed to be fool proof. Don't worry about the idiot. The receptionist should be able to set the software/hardware in a basic mode that did basic things. Anything beyond that required more involved documentation. Done properly, documents should write themselves as the design work progresses. The jumper settings on this board only needs to be a simple picture, very few need to know pin numbers or even the pin name. Keep the detailed information for debugging, it has no place in the basic setup.
