MK6 Gti Arm Catted Downpipe Install | Everything You Need to Know
In this video we go over how to install a downpipe on a mk6 gti, this process is pretty similar within mk5’s and mk6’s as they’re pretty much similar chassis. Mk4’s and mk7’s will be different as in this video. I hope you learned something from the video and I helped you install your downpipe! There are before and after sound clips but just giving it some throttle blips, no fly bud or anything like that.

Can I replace the gasket without removing the whole exhaust from the back?
i tried it and snapped one of the bolts to the turbo so not really sure if i’m up for it again but maybe i will

i just ordered mine and i was gonna get it installed by a local shop but does removing the battery make it easy to get the the infamous “hard bolts”? if so i’d be saving myself some money lol

Sorry about the late response, but imho yes. Especially if you have a good ratcheting 1/2 ratchet/breaker bar like the mac one in the video it’s a lot easier. Just let everything soak in pb blaster or free all for a little bit and you should be good. I hope I can save you a few bucks!

plus taking out the battery only adds maybe like an extra 5 mins?
Did you torque the turbo-downpipe nuts when putting the downpipe on or just use a regular wrench?

How did you get all the jacks under the pinch welds? Lifted the rear subframe?

Pretty much, it’s an effort. I jack the front up by the pinch weld pad for lift arms and then go by the subframe. The rear is easy if your car is stock ride height as I use the rear subframe and can get a jack under there without having to jack the side up first
The bad thing about sport hatches is the trunk is open in the interior. Compared to sedans the sound is isolated on a sealed trunk. On my Lexus I could not drive the sedan w the access backseat door open, the drone is horrible, but closed is contained and bearable. I wonder if you have tried sound deadening material to keep the exhaust noise down.

@@skaterboi8922 drone... In a sedan the trunk/back seats wall holds a lot of that resonance. On a hatch is one full open cabin/chamber. The noise can be resolved, it just takes more work. I have a hatch myself, I like them very much.
It didn't throw a check engine light and would you recommend a j spacer to get rid of it if it ante got a tune

Yes I’d recommend a o2 spacer/defouler but it’s not always guaranteed that the cel will be gone
My stock downpipe literally won't come off the 4 studs from the turbo I've been at it for a day now and leaving filing down the stud to last resort. Any suggestions??

Got a muffler delete and this exact same downpipe wonder how mines will sound once I am able to tune it and all

I bet it’ll sound really good. I have a friend with a mk6 gli with the ccta and he has the arm resonated catless dp to a awe track catback with a muffler delete and it sounds really good. A little raspy under load though

@@fluflammer1 I’d say keep the muffler. I currently have a catless dp on my mk5 gti to a stock catback with just the muffler and it sounds really good under load. Not much rasp up top and it keeps it tolerable cruising. My mk6 r has a 3” catless turbo back to a muffler and that sounds good but a little louder than my gti
No CEL? Im not sure how to get rid of my CEL.

I’m sure one did come on after he drove it, I didn’t drive it enough. You can get a tune to get the downstream one tuned out or use a defouler. I used defoulers on both my ko4 mk5 gti and mk6 r stg 2+. Most tunes tune out the Downstreams
