I have R32 exhaust/bumper conversion too.. However it was already on the car when I bought it! No idea if taken off an R32 or aftermarket like yours. Great video!

Hi, thanks for doing the video. I had a problem with my GTI Edition 30 - the bumper had come apart slightly underneath the number plate and I had to take the whole thing off to sort it. Like you said the easiest way was to get it off and it took only 10 seconds to clip the clips back together. The hardest thing getting it off was the clip screw holding the bumper to the back wing that you talked about. One of mine was rusted and took ages and a load of WD40 to get it off but I eventually did it. Your video helped though so thanks!

No worries at all, thanks for watching. Yeah I couldn't clip it on with the bumper on and those back wing screws are a nightmare. Happy you got it sorted 👌🏼. Ed30 is a machine 💪🏼.

Good work. Just what i wanted to see. Waiting to do mine but not the R32 one. I'm going for the one without exhaust hole as my Golf is only the 1.6 FSI. The bumper skirt, even when unpainted and without reflectors, is still quite expensive.

Nice vid mate. Swapped my bumper to Ed30 today and those T20 screws are pain in the arse. Ending up jacking up the car to have more clearance to unscrew. Makes it quite a bit easier.

great job! personally I prefer the stock look on my GTI, but I am going to get the black plastic bumper painted/replaced to match the rest of the car.

Wasalam, I picked that up on eBay - it's a Milltek R32 Style non-res cat back. The milltek system is expensive, I picked mine up on sale, and it also hangs a bit so I recommend going custom. Here's a video where the owner gets a custom exhaust R32 style fitted: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWicrdhylLCxh7w.html Think it cost him around £200 if I remember correctly. Hope that helps 👊🏼

Speaking of mud. Check and clean where the sill meets the wheel arch under front and rear wheel arche liners. Mine were caked in mud on all sides. Horrible little rust traps

Is there any way to install a r32 or even a GTI rear lower bumper (that’s body coloured painted) on a Mk5 golf TDI match without having to change the exhaust system or have empty exhaust cutouts where the exhausts would be if I upgraded them to where the r32’s are

Yeah should be possible, the part of the colour coded bumper with exhaust inserts itself is removable - so would need an r32 or ed30 colour coded bumper and then get a blanking part to replace the cut-outs.

Exact same colour as my car and exactly what I'm planning on doing. Do you remember the seller for the bumper? colour match looks pretty good in the video. I've found Lothianspares or something similar but they're out of stock for the next 6-8 weeks

I got mine from Lothian. Fitment and quality is very good however colour match isn't perfect - it's not bad but if you look closely you can tell - I was happy enough. Graphite Blue is a lovely colour - good luck with it!

Replacement wing should be good - normally taken off another car.

Powervalve(bcs) do a full system but it is expensive. Custom made is another option.

Exhuast tips are 100mm in diameter

Change the number plate lights to led units, there error free plug and play much better.

I'd recommend getting a custom made back box that is R32 style - should be cheaper

I wouldn't want replica r32 but an original gti

Personal preference I guess. You can get the ED30 valence which keeps the GTI look!

I think that's just how the R32 valence fits even on factory R32s

Did you not need the heatsheild for the bumper by the exhaust? Worried mine is going to melt otherwise

No it's completely fine, been running it for 4 years now. That part of the exhaust doesn't really get too hot and sits off the plastic

I bought mine from eBay. Can be cheaper getting it from an R32 that's getting broken and will be genuine. Ebay quality wasn't too bad. Bought mine from Lothian Car Parts and would recommend.

I know many people do this to their GTI, but in my opinion it just doesn't fit. If you see this rear you expect a nice VR6 sound. I will never understand why people would put this on a GTI. I personally would always go for the GTI Edition 30 bumper.
