Anyone with this car don't forget to get under car and pull out the rubber bung one in each corner and leave them out and this won't happen again, be prepared to get soaked.

Didnt do my homework, had my 13 plate for 4 years and just noticed this. Been driving about with only a drivers seat 😂 for a couple of weeks. Car all dried out and put it back together today. Didnt bother removing the rear bumper, pulled the insulation out through the bung hole under the car 😂😂😂. - That was a good work out!

Mate you need to take the rear bumper off and re seal those air vents. Trust me, the water will keep coming back without doing this.

Hi great video! Unfortunately I need to do this and you clip will be very helpful! I was wondering, How did you get the little black thing out at 5:35? Are you able to offer any advice on how to remove the trim that holds the side carpets in the boot in place? I've removed the 4 pins that hold the trim that has a hole for the boot lock to close and 2 screws along the side but I think its still held/clipped in somewhere..do I need to remove the parcel shelf support and the piece of trim that the rear passenger seat belt goes through? Any advice would be gratefully received 🙏

Thank you, glad to help! The black clip came out as shown in the video but using my other hand to pull it as well when I wasn’t recording. Unfortunately I didn’t remove the boot lining myself so can’t really help specifically but it does look like the parcel shelf support has to be removed in order to remove that trim. Hope you get sorted!

I’ve heard today the parcel shelf support didn’t need removing to remove the trim but it was pretty tight pulling it out and putting it back in. Hope this helps!

@@IAMASPANNER excellent, thanks for asking/letting me know, its greatly appreciated. :) Part of my concern was how I would put them back in place afterwards as they don't look like they''d take a lot of pressure if forced into somewhere. I found a clip that shows how to remove the parcel shelf support which will likely make them easier to fit back. I hope you don't mind if I share a link here in case others find it useful? kzread.info/dash/bejne/maB6yK-FoZTQdtY.html 13 mins in

Thanks for your video. I have to do this but I can't get the carpet off at the front footwell. Roughly at 1min 52 seconds in your video. How did you take the carper out from under the central near the Gear box? Thanks

  • @IAMASPANNER

Hi Aziz, it does just pull down and out it’s just awkward with the rigidity of the carpet. Work the carpet out from the door side first and pull it out of the centre after you’ve got the footwell area folded over. I hope you manage to get sorted!

Good Video. My Ford Focus has the exact same problem. Unfortunately I don't have the skills or the confidence to even attempt a fix like that. I guess I'll have to take it to a garage which probably won't be cheap

  • @IAMASPANNER

Confidence is the biggest hurdle, you don’t need much skill just work slowly and take picture of where things fit into place etc. Probably won’t be cheap at a garage and they may not leave the carpet up long enough to dry out.

Did you go to garage in the end? Do you mind saying how much? I want to do this myself but replacement/dry-out of the foams is a real sticking point. If I'm this far in and find out I can't complete it myself it could add a lot of time to the fix which I wouldn't have

i have a focus mk3 also 14 reg. The reason for no re call is the fact that they are 10 years old and the water problem only started when the seals got worn over the years.

Hi. The driver and passenger carperts how they were removed. I tried to remove mine due to a leak and i thought they were bolted to the chasis and the centre console. Are they bolted or i just pull them?

  • @IAMASPANNER

They’re not bolted they’re just trapped by other components, don’t I show how they come out in this video?

If you want to make full removal, is it still not trapped? For me it seems to have some hole which seats in the armrest / hand break console...

Thanks for the video, it is very helpful. I have the same problem. It is very difficult to dry the interioir of the car. There is an insulation carpet under the pedals. I cant remove it so i have to dry it at the original place. It takes days. What a shame.. Although I had a Volvo S60 and it was soaked. It seems silicone will be my best friend.

In an ideal world I’d have left the whole carpet out for over a week, I can’t believe how well the foam was holding water, you could squeeze all day and still more would come out! Considering how common the issue is I can’t believe they’re like this but what can you do.

  • @IAMASPANNER

There’s a grille behind the bumper that allows air into the car, the seals around it allow water in. Also without even removing the bumper you can find a round grommet and remove it to drain the water out of the body before fixing the cause of the leak.

What a mess... everything rotten. Now I have to take the complete interior apart to get the foam and carpet replaced. This seems to be quite a common problem with this model. What a bad design by Ford. It can ruin the whole car. I hope the person who is responsible is watching this. Thanks for the video.
