@@DubsMood Yeah vocals are way too far back. I think they're definitely built to SIT in the mix and not be front and center like most modern pop but the live sound makes it sit too far back to the point where you are kind of straining to hear anything he says.

We all can see that this is his solo debut, but the initial comment doesn't mention whether it's a solo debut or not. Just letting the op know that he was on jimmy Fallon just in case he missed it.

It's definitely reproducible, he's often running a very simple pedal board. The main thing that accomplishes the sound is running the guitar through an old 4-track mixer. I love his sound but there isn't some otherworldly 'organic' source - just some really smart equipment choices! :)

I'm in the same boat. I saw him live twice some years back. My introduction to him was on stage. I was impressed. His style was reminiscent of 70s and 80s but it's changed and has a very unique sound now. While I admittedly like the old sound, the new sound is something I'm adapting to, but I do admire the band trying something different.

been a fan for years and it’s so surreal to see how far he’s come, very very deserved. truly feels like mk.gee is a breath of fresh air in the current music scene and that’s he’s cultivating a sound totally his own. super proud of him and i can only hope he gains more recognition.

Listening to him, I feel the way I felt first time I listened to artists like Bon Iver, The Weeknd, and The 1975.
Seeing how far this dude has come from the days of a "Museum of Contradiction" and earlier singles is truly a privilege. I knew then and now the whole world knows that he is truly special.
This one guy is changing music, ladies and gentlemen.
I always think the other musicians - especially when they are so few - should be credited too. Lovely to see the productive (but still with great quality) Sam Gendel also popping up here! Both versatile and with an unmistakable sound. Check him out if you don't know ~

I found this guy shuffling through youtube's radio giving me random instrumentals. I Iiked a particular song, went on with my life. Only a couple months later, his album drops. Of course, only knowing one song (and it being just instruments) I thought "why am I being suggested this album from an artist I don't know?" And then I pressed play. I'm bummed I forgot to check for a vinyl release as this is my FAVORITE album release in a very very long time. Love it!
