    I just got fitted for the HL irons, and they are honestly mind blowing with how incredible they perform for me. I fit into the slower swing speed category, but I was getting close to 1.49 smash factor with every strike with the 7 iron. I seriously have a hard time understanding how these irons perform so well and how they fly so far for me compared to other models, including the regular Hot Metals, but I am definitely not complaining with the results.

    “Holy Cow”- yep these make good mix and match clubs - pro for wedge thru 5 or 6 iron and high launch for 4 or 3 if one prefers irons vs hybrid. Thanks for the insight- great for “scooper or Pickers”. 👍

    Hit the HL's today, I preferred them over the other clubs I hit in this category. Regular graphite shaft worked well with my 70ish swing speed. Good sound and feel.

    Great review. I just wish that companies would offer their models like this i.e AI Smoke, P790 , Hot metal Pro in more traditional lofts l. Either that, or put their 7 iron for example at 31° as standard and offer +-2° through custom order. So you can go strong at 29 or go play 33 if you want. Starting low at 28 degrees means that good players who just want a traditional look with more help will go elsewhere because they don't want a 190 yard 7 iron! Ping do it best with their standard, retro or power spec lofts.

    Completely agree, it works at both ends of the spectrum too. There's lots of good golfers that do get a little sloppy and add loft, but don't want to play super chunky game improvement type irons. But yeah the bigger problem is as you say, people with either less speed, or reside dynamic loft at impact but want something a bit bigger and more helpful.

    Great review, but is this more like comparing a 6i with a 7i?

    I have a natural fade, I’m right handed and my fade will natural turn 5-10 metres right. Using these ‘hot metal’ straightened me out and allows me to hit slow and gain distances of 190-210 in 7 iton.

    I have tried these and I like them. My swing speed is between 65-75 mph. I am just at the border between light or regular shaft (70mph). I am not sure which one to choose... I intend to play a lot more golf in the coming months (1 round every 2 weeks). Any advice ? thanks.

    usually my angle of attack is between 0 to 6 upwards. I wonder if I should go for regular Hot Metal or HL version given my swing speed and angle of attack.

    I think the HM HL will be similar to the T200. Hot Metal Pro similar to the T350. In terms of exact launch and spin I can't say as I haven't bit them back to back on the same day yet. But I can't see there being a lot in it. Looks wise it's certainly the Titlesit for me!

    @@epgolfstudios I thought the hot metals are more forgiving than the hot metal pros so would have thought the pros would be similar to the T200 and hot metals would be similar to the T350? I’ve been fitted into the T350 so just wondered if it’s worth trying the mizuno’s to see if they are a better fit for my game

  • @epgolfstudios

    @@user-pn5ic9nn3i I always think about launch and spin, not forgiveness. Forgiveness between any of the heads mentioned is so close no amateur would actually be able to see any difference, despite most people thinking that they can, but when you analyse the data properly, there's really no difference. So the Hot Metal and Hot Metal Pro being very strong in loft will be closer to the T350. Hot Metal High Launch having the same loft as the T200 would be closer to that. The Mizuno won't be any better than the Titlesit. Really that would come more down to just looks and feel.

    @@epgolfstudios I’m usually a bit steep and height is not a problem for me. I actually could stand a little less height probably. My 6 iron goes about 165 and that’s with maybe 3 or 4 yards of roll out

    Isn't it time for a reset? Clubs should be marked with loft rather than a number that actually means nothing anymore. Just my opinion 😊

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    Yeah it's certainly an interesting debate. I wouldn't mind either way, manufacturers will never do it because they want people to think they are hitting the ball further and ignore the fact they are stronger in loft 😂 either way it doesn't really matter. As long as you get fitted so the ball flight and performance is correct and you know your yardages then that's all that really matters

    @@epgolfstudios It's odd though isn't it? Golf has so many equipment regulations yet club manufacturers are able to take a 6 or even a 5 iron and call it a 7. It's misleading at best.

    It would prove detrimental to the average golfer's ego. They like smashing that 7-iron with the 27* of loft and bragging they smash it 175 yards. What was the same club 20 years ago...37* of loft?

  • @robertstevens1507

    these clubs seem to be more for slower swing speeds 70 to 80. looking at spec for someone who hits in the high 90"s make no sense to me. also when they change to loft on the HL from a standard 7 to a 8 whey not just use a 8. Would it be the extra shaft length, why not order the standard head with longer shafts?

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    Жыл бұрын

    I would steer clear of the HM and HMP for slow swing speeds because they are too strong in loft. A player with not enough speed will not generate enough height with these irons and will struggle with gapping in the longer irons. The HL would be a possibility for the lower swing speed due to the added loft and the design of the head creating more launch. The other heads would be better for mid swing speed who has a shallow and scoopy delivery. If a mid swing speed player had a steep delivery and took off quite a bit of loft at impact still steer clear of these irons. How you deliver the club is far more important that how fast you swing the club. Personally I wouldn't mix and match these sets because the HL definitely gives different launch conditions to the others even if they were at the same lofts.
