Thank you man for this video.. I just searched over the internet for ideas how I can make compact setup for my DDJ-400 and this is just the perfect solution. I already founded a used Lenovo Miix 320 in good shaped and contacted with the seller.

@@AngelHernandez-us9zb Yes you can use headphones. And you need them, otherwise, how to beatmatch? :-) The G4V has a built in 4channels sound card, so 2 of them are the output and 2 of them are for headphone preview.

What brand and model controller is that?

Hey I’m just wondering Do you ever have any problems with ur Gemini gear , I’m looking to get a pair of mdj500s but I’m worried that they will not be reliable and crash all the time from what I heard in other videos. Thanks

Hi, I don't have any other Gemini unit apart from this G4V controller. This controller works very well on the setup you have seen in this demo. I can't say anything more general than this. Good luck! :-)

Thanks! The speakers are connected to the controller, which has a 4 way sound card and therefore allow for normal output + headphone preview. The laptop is connected to the controller via USB, so that the controller controls it :-)

Can you describe the physical wire connections between the mixer|controllers and the Lenovo ? In terms of inputs and outputs between the respective components. Thanks

No problem. The Lenovo and the Gemini controller are connected via USB: there is a USB-C to USB-A converter in between becase the Lenovo device has a USB-C port and the Gemini controller works with USB-A. This is the only physical connection between these two devices. The Gemini controller is like a USB keyboard or mouse but with much better ergonomics - moving the physical knobs and handles in the controller moves the virtual knobs and handles in the Mixxx software running in the Lenovo device. The same USB connection also exposes a USB soundcard to the Lenovo device - the sound card lives inside the Gemini controller and has 4 channels: 2 for speakers and 2 for headphones. In short: the physical USB connection has the double purpose of exposing a sound card and a physical controller - Mixxx listens to the signals from the controller, produces the digital sound and sends it to the soundcard. The controller maps the soundcard signals to the speakers and the headphones and that produces sound respectively for the audience and for the DJ previewing the next track. The Gemini controller has XLR and RCA outputs for the speakers and large jack for the headphones. Hope this helps :-)

@@chilithekid7257 That GV4 mixer is quite sophisticated to support that, very nice and straight forward, even though I would assume takes some time to get it set up right. Didn't realize MIXXX until recently, and bought a XONE 23 analog about two weeks ago. Without the Virtual DJ mappable/usb/midi support, was thinking of having a 4 channel usb, to go laptop mixxx deck 1 and deck 2 out to "usb sound card" , laptop rca out pair one to source 1 of analog mixer, and laptop rca out pair two to source 2 of analog mixer. Not really using the crossover on the MIXXX, but on the analog DJ mixer. would still use the headphone and crossover on the analog mixer. But the sourcing of the flac files and bpm, sync, speed control, and dual graph display would be from the MIXXX. I'm not getting the finger touch on the speed control, but this can opt not to have any physical sources other than laptop with flac, or streaming. I still will hook up turntables now and then, but trying to generally run most of the time with a small footprint. thanks again.

I have the ns7 and ns7ii. I still love rocking my g4v every now and then. No issues with my dedicated dj laptop and mixx.

i have the same gemini g4v console, do. you think it will work without mapping with mixxx? Thx

I got the mappings from Mixxx forums. And it seems they were not oficially integrated yet. I would recommend you to ask in the Pull Request which is pending merge. github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/4323

This is a good look at what I've been looking for recently. My Gemini CDJ 700s are shot and I have to replace them asap. This combo is what I want to do. I just hadn't seen it actually working in a video until now. Are you in the Mixx community?

you can... but that is more than my coordination can handle at the moment :-) A larger screen would be necessary I think.

Easy 4 deck integration but def need larger screen

How you kids have it easy, no carrying a transit van full of records and equipment to the venue, just need a hardrdrive full of samples and tracks a few cables and a small flight case. nice work none the less :)

The only issue is now everyone thinks they're a DJ. I've been DJing for 10 years and the friends I DJed their weddings and graduation parties now DJ their own events (poorly usually).

@@shatterpointgames Too true, how often do I hear “my is a DJ he has all the stuff in his/her bedroom. Then by chance you hear some examples of their work and its all just crossfading others work, and a bunch of ill timed samples.

It is not a tablet... it is a Lenovo Miix laptop with detachable keyboard :-) The OS is Ubuntu 18.04 and it is autolaunching Mixxx in fullscreen.
