Thank you! Cheers!
This really changed my mind about the Clariphonic parallel equalizer. Like night and day.
never clicked so fast on a video... Sir Duskin, you have been an inspiration to me and a distant partner in my mixing process and learning journey ! Thanks for posting again on this channel, it feels good to be back in the studio with you !

Thanks for listening
I just want to hop there and mix a 12 minutes extended version. What a wonderful insight of this classic.
That crowd singing backing was ace to hear as I hadn't heard it by itself before. To also hear the full ending unlike the version on the album was also a really nice thing to catch. PS: I haven't stopped dribbling over all your outboard gear...
Honestly this is like visual ASMR
The sheer amount of energy you got out of that song is amazing! Few things sounding a little harsh when comparing to modern digital mixes but man! That power!
I never realized there were gang vocals on this song… wow
What an ear you have, you are a master at mixing!

As a vocalist i appreciate this absolutely stunning and wide mix. And of course the louder vocals 🧞
Awesome mix. Forgot how great this song is. Loving the studio setup.
So deeply satisfying watching the mix thicken up as the video goes on, knowing what goes into getting your ears tuned to this kind of quick decision making.
You Tube randomly put this video on my feed im glad it did awesome studio and awesome mixing thanks 🙏

I have to raz you about pulling down that master fader so much but we know how that goes lol. Beautiful studio and great outboard. Oh and can you send me the PT files pretty please 🙏🏼. Subscribed!

Thanks for posting content again. 🤩
Great work. So nice to hear these elements and your rework.
damn Chris's voice sounds great on this.
this is excellent. you have a great outboard collection and a even better taste on how to use those machines. love what the dbx and AMS are doing with that snare.
This mix is so cool!
How did you know what I need in my life right now?!!!
Amazing work! I live an hour from where this is recorded and know the tech who maintains the Neve this was tracked on. Jealous you managed to get the multis!
This is awesome, and super cool you show us what different gear/values and tracks do to the sound!
I’m such a huge Brendan O’Brien fan that I thought for sure I would hate whatever you did because you are walking on sacred ground, but you surprised me. I dig it. I do slightly prefer the sound of those weird SSL B style (feedback) modules on drum buss that Brendan uses just cuz I’ve listened to his records so many times that it has become what sounds “right” to me on rock drums, but your mix is cool. It’s wider and more open for sure. Outstanding job!
OH YOU ARE BACK BACK!! LETS GOOOO!!!!!!
We on a streak boys! Ha! Gotta love it! Nice one mate! 🎸!
Awesome!!
that alternative ending is the best! thank you!
Awesome!
You are a great inspiration on how to simplify my mixes and emulate them as much as I can , in the box . Bless you for simplifying the thing for us 🙏

Bravo
that looked fun
so fire
So so so so happy you are back. And that new POV filming is amazing 👌🏽 Wonder why ? Hehe

One Word, Amazing...
Long live Duskin!
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!
Drums are beautifully up front compared to the original. Great mix!
Amazing..You hadthe Bvs up loader which was interesting , never heard the "crowd" in there before
Yessss
OMG!! 💫🌟⭐
Nice!! Hearing the backing vocals soloed was religious...Lead gtr could have popped out more ...maybe that was just my monitoring conditions,,,love this!!!
Fantastic work. So interesting to follow along. Those BVs do scream for a little bit of automation :)
fantastic. i hear drum details i never noticed before. same the mahlstrom of voices in the last chorus …eerie. glorious. melodic drumming-wish someone did smthg about like suicide. imho the best drumming ever. dunno why matt doesnt shine as much wit pearl jam… all tight uptempo…
I think your mix has a focus with a little more emphasis towards the mid-high frequencies, and that generates a psychoacoustic sensation of greater stereo openness and somewhat less compressed and opaque than the original. I don't know if you agree with that... I wanted to ask you if you use the lexicom or the ams for the lead vocals in the verse or just natural without effects. beautiful to see how you paint the sound. thank you
❤
I prefer this mix to original which sounds a lttle more dull and lifeless. I like your bg vox are a bit higher. More clarity overall. Great job! Cornells vox are just insane. And hearing the backing vox solod was great!
🤘🔥🔥🔥🤘
Not too shabby at all!
Imagine that? No Autotune, no vocal alignment, no "magic" plugins, no manipulation. Just a great song, a good performance, and an outstanding mix.
Awesome mix Daniel! Curiosity, the drum room is summed to the OH? Cheers!

Correct!
Best use for the Apple Vision I've seen yet. Loved your other POVs but this new quality is so much easier for the eyes. Great stuff!! Question, I know these are more like "performatic" videos but I see you take a top-down approach to mixing drums (and keep lots of other stuff playing as well). Do you do this as well when mixing in general?
@DanDuskin
3 күн бұрын
It's pretty similar. The biggest differences between my other mixes that aren't on video and POV mixes like these is that on a non-POV mix I might go a little slower, take a break and come back a couple times, and more buss processing will stay on from the beginning.
Wow
This should have been the mix on the record, especially the background vocals are much better in the mix
Again everything is in the performance of the musician behind the mics, simple overdub of voice and guitares well played and a drummer that hit his drums as hard and consistent as he can, the job of the mixing guy is just to put the microphone on sweet spot and retranscribe as best as he could the sound of the band, back then they not over processing the sound they just put the compressor and EQ when it's need, printed directly on tape, no less, no more, no computer trickery, except for some using sampler on tape.
The original mix, although stereo, sounds single dimension. Your mix, when done, is going to sound much more musical than the original. Great job!

Awesome mix! I might be the only one bothered by it since no one else seems to have mentioned it, but.....is there no image stabilization on that thing? 😅 I need some Dramamine! At least for me, there's something about watching someone else's VR feed, but your other POV cam videos are totally fine
Any particular reason why you panned the OH's stereo only in the last third of the video? Super curious :) Mix sounds awesome btw :D

Honestly, I was so busy listening to so many things I missed that for a bit. However, I have spent a decent amount of time learning to record drums with a single overhead mic, and appreciating that kind of old style, so maybe something subconscious was going on.

@@DanDuskin thanks for clearing that up! My first guess was that you wanted to make sure that the oh's and the vocals don't clash in mono. I know that I sometimes run into the issue and like to flip the mix to mono for a bit as soon as the vocals come in :)
