They have the High/Low pass filters back to front. I do the same thing you were doing with grabbing the LP thinking it is the HP, it's very counter intuitive. Otherwise it sounds amazing, especially the High Shelf in E mode, it's probably the most beautiful high end EQ I've ever heard.

You can control input and output gain on the channel strip… that said, I hear the UF8 is sweet for pure balancing. Hoping to try one in the future!

Cool Does the SSL channel strip need to be in the very first plugin slot(or first in the chain) for the UC1 to function correctly? Sometimes I place plugins before the SSL channel strip because it sounds better in certain situations.

no, you can place the channel strip wherever you want in the chain. It will navigate to the corresponding plugin for each track

Are the buttons touch sensitive… when your fingers touch a knob can u see the value on the controllers screen before rotating like a Maschine or Push? And is there a upgrade or discount if you already own the SSL channel and bus?

They don’t respond until you turn them but the outside dials show you where they are set currently.

Hey Sean! Late comment but great video! Just wanted to ask if every instance of SSL Native that you had loaded on each bus was using something similar to UAD's - "DSP" instead of CPU?

Thanks Mark! SSL Native plugins and the UC1 do not have dedicated DSP. That said, in my experience, channel strip and the bus comp are VERY light on CPU, even running really big sessions.

does the ssl plugin of the track you are working on show up on the computer screen as soon as you turn a knob on the uc-1 or do you have to select it with the mouse to open the plugin?

SSL UC1 with plugs sounded amazing on your video here, you really know how to get those Vox sounding awesome! I have just got the UC1. I'm just wondering, is the 2bus main mix output hitting your 2bus mix rack of external gear? i.e. fusion? are we hearing this going through Fusion? Thanks :)

DAWs don’t fundamentally sound different imo... it’s more about how you’re using them. Maybe something subtle like the way you’re using the stock EQ or realizing that panning works a bit different in each DAW :)

all very different plugins, useful in their own right... think of this as an upgrade to your DAW mixer to give it the workflow and sound of a hardware SSL console

This thing looks great, kicking around the idea of buying it. I already own the SSL native suite of plugins. Given that, think it's worth the $850? Also concerning about no volume sliders. Also wish it could be used at least on the other SSL plugins at least in part somehow (yes, I know its built specifically for the strip and bus).

It depends on 1) how much you use the channel strip / bus compressor in a session 2) if you prefer the hands on feel of a console rather than your mouse. I use the ssl channel and bus comp in every session and much prefer the tactile feel - it’s faster and inspiring. My understanding is that support for additional plugins is at least a possibility :) They’re already adding new features like fader support with UF8, so we’ll see!

Not at all times, but when I’m using ssl bus comp or ssl channel strip 2, it’s a major workflow enhancer.

Yes. If you’re using the SSL Native Channel Strip / Bus Compressor and prefer a hands on approach, it’s definitely worth it IMO :)

sean, I have a 2012 macbook pro 2.5ghz 256ssd 16gb ram. It's totally wiped clean. I have mojave and debating on updating to catalina. I have a good microphone ready.and gonna use the dt770s for headphones but lack a interface . Please help me! Please please. all I want is to be able to use antares autotune or waves real time (with alil reverb) without delay for recording vocals and live for small gigs like at the bar or living room party. And everyone tells me it wont work unless I shell out for a apollo for antares or a soundgrid server for waves. But i seen videos of you and others rocking it just fine without an apollo or soundgrid and I dont understand why if I'm only gonna run 2 plugins like that why it wouldnt work. I can only afford to buy 1 audio interface and dont want to make a mistake so honestly do I HAVE to buy an apollo or soundgrid to achieve real time autotune or waves tune with alil reverb because apollo and soundgrid are dsp interfaces? Or could I get away with the motu m2 which can get as low as 2.5 to 0.7 ms latency? Please help me I would LOVVVEE to buy ALLL your vocal chain presets !!!! (I'm dead serious every one) but I cant even start till I know what I need to do about a audio interface. So motu m2 like I said? Or get a zen go synergy? ( zen is the apollos rival and does the same things) I have been putting my whole vocal career on hold cause of this . Help! No one I've asked on youtube for months will give me some real true advice! Or even a older thunderbolt interface like the focusrite clarett 2pre or apogee element 24. But honestly all of these are super expensive except the motu m2 ...

You don’t need a specific interface or hardware to use real time pitch correction… activate software monitoring through your DAW with a decent processor and set your i/o buffer low enough (256 or less). That’s it :)

Yes it does. UC1 comes with a full license of the new Channel Strip 2 and the Bus Compressor 2 based on latest SSL 9000 hardware mixer. UF8 comes also with full license of the new Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 and also license of additional SSL plugins. The new versions can now also be used without a physical ILOK. 💡Anyone that already have a full license of the older SSL Channel Strip or Bus Compressor (or both) can start today use the new version 2 with same license. 👍 Hope it helps. 😊

@@beats-by-skrill8925 Go to SSL Audio website and register your purchase on their website. If you don't have already you can sign up for free account. Follow the instruction and after you registered your SN of the back of the hardware you get a software license that comes with the products. You can then download your plugins/software from SSL Audio website. Don't forget install the SSL 360 software too. I hope it helps. 👍😊

I have a MBP16 2019 and cant wait to get rid of it. The overheating and fan noise when working on music or video is unbearable. I'd wait for the new MBP or just go for the Mac mini. Great value and for power and super quiet.

Alright it seems i will have to calm down my excitement. My mac mini 2011 that i like because of it being equipped with FireWire ports for my Audio Interface is overheating too much. She cannot take it anymore. So i was hoping to to hop on a used MacBook Pro as in this period of my life portability is more useful to me than staying home. So you guys do not recommend the i7 MacBook Pro 2017 that i found a deal costing me less than a 1000$ for?

That’s subjective as they are fundamentally different :) having used both, imo the plugins / controllers are just as capable in their own right… it’s all how you use it

Just a controller. But SSL is trying to add compatibility for third-party SSL plugs. Waves, UAD, etc.

You do a great job....but.....this just confirmed what I have been thinking about the UC1 the plguins sound crapy.....so....they put together great software with a great controller with bad plugins.... Exp.... bx4000 E sounds way better ik Media MixBox Comp sounds better Acustica Audio Strip ad Pre...will give your the analog sampling from the actual hadware Why wouldnt you just do those instead with a Nektar....? thats a $1000 and you got something way closer to an Actual SSL E Mixer

I'm was so disappointed with the UX: I want to copy & paste eq, filter, dynamic module setting to another instance: not possible! I manually need to replicate each knob or copy (video 5:25) the plugin. The alternative is loading and saving presets.. is the SSL 2021 ITB mixing style? The switching of instances (video 2:20 or 5:30) is only supported on the hardware, this function is cheaply disabled (requires open & close of each plugin) on the plugin UI. Many (influencers) video's seems to replicate the SSL promotional stuff. Compared to the age of console one SSL had a great opportunity here to innovate instead of replicate....
