Mixing Neutrals in Watercolour - Colour Theory Made Fun | Mixing Complementary Colours

Let's mix some paint! Watch me explore what different watercolours on my palette can do - I mix vibrant colours together to create neutrals. I explore different "personalities" of my paints - granulation, opacity, range of value (it is also my favourite way to get reacquainted with the colours I rarely use). Follow along and mix the different colours on YOUR palette.

    Great idea making swatches of your colors for a wheel. I have mine in clear sheets in a binder. I’ll swatch again and make a wheel of my round palette colors! I’m surprised you’re not a Daniel Smith Ambassador, yet……

    Oh thank you for this - I am in love with Daniel Smith paints and most of the colours on my palette are by them. Swatching your own colours into a colour wheel is such a great tool for colour mixing and to getting to know your paints better. I have mine above my desk and I constantly refer to it. Have fun!

    What does granulating actually mean when it cones to watercolour paint?

  • @AnastasiaMily

    @AnastasiaMily

    Ай бұрын

    Granulation is a textural effect - granulating paints have pigment particles (like sediment) that do not dissolve in water but instead settle on the surface of the paper. Sometimes a watercolour wash has the same texture as leather - this is one of the examples of granulation.
