Do you apply reverb to your kick? if so, which style and settings?

awesome tutorial, but one thing I still don't get done right, is the sidechain: do I sidechain the bass to the kick or other way round? Or can it be substituted by a gate? What I learned is that when I am in arrangement stage, I seperate kick and bass, even on the busses, but I'm not sure, whether the sub needs an own BUS, but I intentially mostly go for one.

Yes, bass to kick. You want your bass to duck (lower the volume) when kick hits. You can make it with gate but it is better to use compression. You can also sidechain it in eq buy ducking bass frequencies when kick hits to make room for it.

@@NoSurrenderMuzikyep, sidechained compression is the key, 4:1, fastest Attack & Release, roughly 3-4 DB reduction. Try using the same technique for heavy guitars, except here you sidechain the compression to the Snare.
