The era of dj software such as VTT, PCDJ, Serato, Traktor, Atomix, Torq etc. allowed us to emulate conventional setups using just a computer. This created a need for specialist imput devices since keyboard mapping could've only taken us so far. I remember configuring the row of key 0-9 as a sliding crossfader, with 5&6 as center position! Keys ASDX were the start/stop functions for my decks. I even bought a silicone rollable usb keyboard to enhance the feeling and also resist the occasional drink spill lol. Then along came the early gen controllers such as the Hercules Dj controller MK1 and the Numark DMC2 (an awesome CDN 90 inspired unit). Those days dj controllers didn't all look like CDJs, there was mad innovation. Eventually though, dvs and controllers with laptops became mainstream and I guess folks kinda forgot the main reason why controllers existed in the first place- as a more efficient means to interact with the dj software. Its just an input device, designed to optimise work flow with tactile buttons, sliders and knobs compared to keyboard and mouse which isn't designed for dj use. A built-in audio interface was actually a bonus feature that simplified hook ups. Now enter the next evolution where we can simulate input devices in 3d space. It's now possible to have access to any 'hardware' dj controller within a spacially computed environment which bypasses the need for the physical dj controller! TRIBE XR even has augmented reality mode that places these digital decks into your room, you see them overlayed among real life persons and other objects that makes perfect for a live performance scenario. The only remaining challenge is the audio routing and finding the best low latency methods to get audio from the headset to your loudspeakers in a real environment. This will make your virtual decks easily usable in the real world. XR is a very young technology and is evolving rapid pace. Some VR headset manufacturers are striving to design around using your bare hands but that's a different topic entirely. For now VR controllers work fine for me, despite the small learning curve. It's exciting to think about where this all goes 🙏🏾 #mixerdafixer

The slight delay time to Bluetooth would probably mess up your transitions.
