As a long time kpop listeners, I understand why they do that for their debut cuz if you do a hip-hop heavy song for a debut that don't do so good in a Korean market or a Kpop world in general. They did a great one for doing that cuz the debut song is very well produced.

oh yeah i understand that, i feel like they shoulda jus waited to tease hurricane and 82 then because it brought up so much of our expectations thinking we are gonna get an all rap group with hard ass bears and then they dropped bad villain lol

Because a full hiphop debut song isnt very attractive among koreans which means less popularity, we can see that with Young posse. I love YP but they dont get the recognition because of it. They r keeping those hiphop bangers as b sides instead. Also watch BADVILLAIN - BADITUDE MV

I agree! ya releasing Baditude MV right away was also smart to gain back the Western and global audience who wanted that full hip hop sound! And I'm a huge XG and Young Posse fan coming from Cali

I think this is why yg don’t babymonster want a hiphop like this because they know that all Korean don’t want a hiphop song 😢😢

that's not true, hip hop is also famous in korea, and they are girl crush, is the most famous concept. they're not popular only because of the company. when a group is not from the big 3, they're not popular (except Hybe groups)

@@yggirlgroups Nope. Hiphop has his own audience and among kpop its less popular than other genres. Its why you rarely see full hiphop/rap songs, its mostly mixed with kpop elements. Most full hiphop songs r done by korean solo artists.

“You can’t really see them dancing that much” Well…it’s an MV not a stage or performance video Also Hurricane and +82 were songs that were fully hip hop style bc they were made to highlight the talents of the rappers in the group. There are vocalists in the group that were given their time to shine in the debut, which is only fair

They’ll come back with a lot more Hip Hop stuff for sure, just don’t think it would have done good to come out with a hip hop song for their debut but their other song YA-HO(BADTITUDE)

Information for those overseas who don't know, there is an artist named MC Mong who belongs to a label under Badvillain's agency. This singer was a top singer and producer in Korea from 2004 to 2009, but was criticized by the public regarding Korea's military enlistment issue. His activities were suspended for a long time, and although he was active from 2014 to 2019, he was not as popular as before. The song was good, but public opinion was divided due to military issues. However, he hid his name and worked as a producer to produce idols such as Momoland, and the company grew in size, selling most of the agency's shares to a construction company, which became what is now Big Planet Entertainment. This is what people in Korea think of him as composing and producing bad villain songs under the name villain36. What is important here is that if you look at the songs MC MONG released in the past, you can feel a similar feeling to Badvillain.

I’ll never understand people that have beef when artists and groups have versatility in their music…they gave you hip hop and said hey we can do other things too which all musical artist should do in order to evolve in their art. But if you like the same tune and dance then you do you I guess lol

Versatility isn’t an issue here. The issue is that I thought the instrumental for their debut song didn’t feel inspired. It mostly sounded boring and didn’t make me want to dance, unlike their other songs.

Simply marketing strategy from BPM. The 2 predebut MV was created to generate buzz and excitement which it did and more! But I think it kinda backfired cuz now everyone was still expecting that new sound but they played the safe route with "Badvillain" as a debut song to get the attention of the general Korean public instead of attracting the Western and global audience (me and you guys!). I completely agree w/ what Jericho said that this song sounds more like a generic girl song. Now they are being compared to Babymonster

their title track is not my vibe either, i expected sooo much more with the other hard ass tracks that i felt low key bamboozled with their tt lol i felt like the song itself felt so empty? i think most of the song had “la la la la la la” in it and i wish they woulda added more lyrics

only TripleS' Generation can pull off the "lalalalala" as a debut track! Now that was a sick debut track! Ya now they are drawing criticism by sounding and looking like Babymonster. BPM fumbled on their debut. There's no going back now. Hurricane isn't even listed in their debut single Overstep and can't find Hurricane on Spotify
