Mixed Media Fun: Making an Image transfer of your own photos

This was created during a cyber crop where the challenge was to scrap a picture of yourself as a toddler. I decided to do an image transfer into my journal instead.

Now, weren’t you quite a cutie-pie at this age, Niamh!!! I love this. I also love the sentiment and how it applies to you. As a mom and now a first time gramma with a 5 mo. old, I too became much more protective and empathetic. This is such a lovely piece of your expressive art. Well done, Niamh!

This is precious! I loved your red shoes....reminded me of Dorothy’s in Wizard of Oz and that illustration of red shoes that says “You have always had the power my dear”.......xx
Really love this! 😍 I must give it a go, it's a great way to add a personal stamp on a journal. You should perhaps consider the next page be you now or your daughter at the same age. I can actually resonate with the fierce. I am becoming better able to speak up for myself 😍🇬🇧

Love this page Niamh, also the quote from 'A midsummer Night's dream' by William Shakespeare is a great fav of mine
i quite like the effect where there's still a bit of white on the pic...gives it character. Plus the 1/2 a star going off the page is heaps better than just 3 plain whole stars...more theatrical. Amazing isn't it how just tiny little tweaks can change a whole page. I think that is why so many people like watching & listening to you Niamh because you give reasons why you do certain things as opposed to just doing it. Thanx for that. Oh i must remember to enrol for the faces course too. Looking forward to that. Is is $25 like the last one? Also is it the same time? 2pm yr time & 1:30 in Adelaide.

Love ths page. Neat process! I was wondering if it would work with a real photo on photo paper?
💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜 1. you were adorable! How precious.... 2. do only laser prints work for this? I'm excited to try this now... (youtube no longer emails my subscriptions and it took me longer than it should of to work that out, so now I"m binge watching what I've missed!)

I have only tried laser prints, colour copies and glossy magazine images. Ink jests have improved greatly and if you let it dry overnight it may work- but I’m not sure. Try it out and see what happens on scrap first

Looks great! Can you do this with an inkjet printer or does it have to be a laser printer

I have only ever used colour copies and laser prints. As you cover the paper in wet media (gesso or gel medium) the inkjet May bleed and smear. But I do know that newer inkjets are better and if you leave the image to dry overnight- you may have success. Try it out and see what happens x

Yes, it’s Matt gel medium - any gel medium works, I just happen to have matt
