That went extremely well, especially considering that you didn’t use any complimentary colours but neutrals. I really dislike purple so I tend to use it only for things that are purple like flowers, maybe I should experiment! Very interesting video!💕🇨🇦

In the great paintings he made in the last decade of his life, one of Phililp Guston's favourite colours, if not THE favourite colour, was Cadmium Red. That final painting of yours was beginning to look a bit Guston-y and I rather liked it. 🙂

That is high praise indeed even to be mentioned in the same sentence as Guston! I agree he totally embraced red and made it work for him. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to embrace it in the same way but I guess I should never say never. Thanks for watching!

Ive been doing that with new canvases, I start with the paint I dont use often and red is one of those colors, also green.

That is such a good idea! I do love having a bit of color peek through from an earlier layer and find it's a good use of my brighter colors as well.

There is no way to be creative unless you begin! So true ❤ But i don't think I have a colour i don't like 😅,

You should use red more often. These are great!

Yes, Lindy I really only wanted a bit of the red popping through--that is the benefit of lots of layers I guess. Plus I knew there was no way I could leave too much red showing.

I hate using red, and it’s the color that looks best on me.

I'm thinking about it. The colour I hate is candy pink, especially with light purple. I can't bear it. Maybe I'll try a painting and see what happens ...
