Mixed media abstract art: bold shapes and colour

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#abstractart #mixedmedia #collage
I used 9 wooden cradle boards to create a 9 piece picture set.
I used gesso, china pencil, black acrylic ink, raw umber acrylic ink. Heavy body black, greenish yellow acrylic paint.
I also used white acrylic ink, pyrole red fluid acrylic paint.
I hope you enjoy.

Hi Susan, thank you!! That is wonderful to hear!! I do think the bright yellow green on these just made them.

Now, that was definitely a "Kirsten-Sunday" for me. I enjoyed your videos very much and learned a lot. I´ll come back to your videos, whenever I need to brush up certain abilities. Your colour scheme was great for me, because of the reduction to a few colours only, and see so many tones, that can be gained from them. Thanks a lot for now. You made my Sunday! 🥰

Britta, you do know you are my favourite person 🥰. I agree about reduced colour palette. I’m actually very taken with black and white on the gel plate after doing the “10 techniques” video. I think it gives a more complex look. I’m thinking of trialling some black and white gel prints with maybe the addition of simple shapes transparent colours. Until recently I was making 2-3 videos a week, but with family events in the last month, that’s not happened. Also, as the last few videos were well received, I want to continue making better videos. Long story short, I’m biting the bullet and making one. It should be out tomorrow or Thursday. You made my Sunday too. Kind words are just a beautiful thing 🥰😍🥰

Hi Michele, no dramas today, aside from aftermath of yesterday. I love how you describe it as progressive movement. I’m sure you definitely could do this. Do you display your work anywhere, like insta?

Hi Susan, sorry I took so long to reply!!!! This is amazing to hear!!!! I remember following an oil pastel peacock video and it was a great learning curve. 🥳 I’d love to see your art. Are you on IG or anything? 💗

Hi Kirsten! These 'collections' work really well with abstract pieces in my humble opinion. When you described how they made you feel, I thought you said 'harpy' !😂 Eek! I obviously need to practise tuning in to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🙈 Then I almost wished you a happy BH 🙄 dear me 🤪 I found your eBay shop btw and some very interesting books there 👍 Some of my favourite abstract artists you may like to take a peek at, are, Liz Ackerly, Lewis Noble and Robert Dutton - he's more semi. Hi Pabi, I feel the collections make it easier to hide mistakes and create balance as you can move them to suit. Plus I like the look of them. I’ll have a harpy birthday in a couple of months…I hope 😂🤣. I’ve gotten lucky with some of the books I’ve picked up and my mum gave me a lot of chalet school ones (she had some doublers) which are collectors items. I’ve heard of and seen the first 2, but I’m going to investigate Robert Dutton…wonder if he’s related to the Yellowstone family 😜🤪😂

Love these!!! You always amaze me. LOVE that red color!!! You remind me of a UK abstract artist I like & follow,...Dan Tirels. Check him out. He applies paint in unusual ways. TFS Austin TX USA

I love him Barbara!!!!! He was probably the first real abstract artist I seen on KZread. He used to do a lot of plastic bag transfers. He made me realise that painting with a brush was just 1 of a million ways to do it!!!! That red is pyrole red. I’m going to try find one in a cheaper brand. Golden is beyond my budget to use a lot of it.
