Mix buses, auxes, matrices, groups. Ever been confused about all of these names on a live mixer? They're all the same thing, just used in different ways, so in this video we'll break down exactly what buses are, and all the ways we can use them. I've been mixing live shows for years and it took me a while to separate my auxes from my matices. Keep watching to learn what I had to work out

I'll often use matrices when I'm in monitor world and I have a drum sub and a wedge. I'll route my my monitor send for the drummer to a matrix that has all the top end rolled off and that will feed the sub.

Hey love your content, ive been sending Vocals to a buss post fader for my vocal group. What's the difference in doing this instead of using the sub group option

Idk if I'm doing it correctly... but I send all my vocals to the main bus... drums go to a separate aux bus, instruments go to a separate aux bus... set my main volume then mix in my instruments and drums to balance everything.... like I said I might be doing it wrong, but I always get compliments on how balanced my band sounds... and that's me mixing from the stage, no sound guy

Great video, I love your explanation. What's the difference between a DCA and a group?

Thanks! Glad it was helpful. No audio passes through a DCA. It's just more like a remote control for the channels you assign to it. The signal path and processing remain the same but you have one fader you can use to turn up and down those channels. Work groups it reroutes or creates an additional audio path. You can add processing etc.
