Mitsubishi Pajero NT+ auto-mate Operation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video describes the features and operation of auto-mate for the Mitsubishi Pajero NT + (2009+).
The operation of auto-matePRO in similar - video coming soon. In the meantime you can head over to the website under Support/Operation to read the operation booklet for auto-matePRO.
auto-mate is a fully automatic torque converter lockup kit that reduces transmission temperatures when towing and improves fuel economy. Not only does it lockup the torque converter, but it also changes the gears. It's like a whole new DRIVE mode of the transmission optimised for towing heavy loads.
It does all of this without needing to change the programming of the factory transmission ECU.
The paddles you see in this video on this Pajero have sold out and are no longer available.
The OBD2 Reader Marshall uses in this video, and recommends, is UltraGauge MX*, due to its compact design, ease of use, range of parameters, and it just works. UltraGauge is available online via UltraGauge Australia or America.

Thanks Mark. Yes, being their flagship model they put a lot of detail into the CANBus technology which allows the features we've incoroprated into the products. The latest firmware now incorporates the SafeLock feature, which ensures the torque converter is not locked under high slip conditions, thus preventing excessive wear for maximum clutch reliability and longevity. Hi David, We assessed the Pajero Sport with the 8 speed transmission right after its release and found they used that same logic as we do to make sure the transmission gave maximum temperature reduction and fuel economy. As a result there’s no reason to improve its operation. Don’t waste your money. Mitsubishi and AISIN have done a great job on the design of the Pajero Sport Transmission 👍.

Being a manual tragic, and struggling to find many available, I’m considering an auto with the lockup pro. How would you rate the driving experience compared to a manual? • @mm4x492

When the lockup clutch is engaged it behaves exactly like a manual. Using the SPORT shift you can also change up and down gears like in a clutchless manual. For example, it stays locked when coasting into a corner and then as you power out again it behaves exactly like a manual, for direct and controlled power delivery. With the Pajero, in high range (2H,4H,4Hlc) it needs to be in D when under 30kph, so it wont be locked all the time. But when it is, it's just like a manual. I like the 'manual feel', so I have our auto-matePRO turned on all the time.

We are currently adapting the kit for a Petrol NS, which may simply work with Gen3 petrols too (which have CANBUS). It was designed specifically to work with Pajero's with remapped engines to provide extra tuning parameters to reduce vibration which can occur in some cars due to the extra torque from the engine.

It is considered a very good and reliable transmission, however, as you say until they get too hot. Heat is the main cause of most transmission rebuilds.
