    It's goes below 0°C in the winter season here, I drive it in Normal mode to allow slip intentionally to warm it up. Once the fluid temperature reaches around 40°C, I put it in Sport. S-Sport is not recommended for Ralliarts (subject to opinion) because of the different gear ratios between the Evo MR and Ralliart, therefore the software for TCU is different. Although S-Sport does offer increased clutch pressure, you'll destroy your gear synchros driving it all the time in S-Sport. I would only ever use it when launching at the drag strip.

    A Ralliart is the best purchase you can make if you go through all four seasons and need something practical that will never let you down. The Lancer Ralliart shares the same engine with the Evolution, so yes, it has a turbo albeit smaller than the one found on the latter. A good set of snow tires and it will get you anywhere you need to go during winter. Not many know this but the Lancer Ralliart uses the exact same drivetrain as the Evolution IX, just paired with a dual clutch transmission.

    For engine oil you can use whatever you like, I use Mobil 1. For the SST you MUST use Diaqueen SSTF-1 or Castrol Transmaxx Dual, anything else will wear out the components much faster and eventually break your transmission. For the transfer case and diffs just stick with OEM, it's cheap enough.

    If it's been tuned by Nick and has a built transmission from SJL and with all the maintenance history then it is absolutely worth it and will last the life of the engine. You probably have another 40,000km in it before you should have the engine inspected. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I don't check the channel very often.

    Hey, sorry for the late reply. Stock intake with a drop in filter performed great for this setup. Also I had the bumper duct cutout for the stock intake so an aftermarket intake would have made it less efficient. Aftermarket intakes have their benefits but on a Ralliart it must be tuned otherwise the SST will react negatively to the modification.

    Thanks for the comment! Car has never let me down once, I have owned it for 4 years and it has been custom tuned at 330whp, 350tq for half of that. No Super Sport here, I don't recommend it as the launch control you get with it isn't very good and the 5th and 6th gear ratios are different in the Evo. You get better clutch pressure from Super Sport, but again, that can be changed in the SST tables for Sport mode to be just as good.

    @@torontotuners8218 if I can I have two questions for you.. The engine internals are the same of the Evo? With bigger turbo , IC and injectors 300hp are possible with stock reliability? Without front and rear LSD in the rain or tarmac does it oversteer under throttle?

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, engine is identical to the Evolution, except for the Final Edition which has sodium filled valves. With just a turbo upgrade you can make it to 300hp easy, injectors and fuel pump can get you to 500hp depending on the turbo and with the right tuner of course. I've seen a couple of Ralliarts pushing over 500hp that are daily driven, so yes, reliability is kept as long as maintenance is upheld. I believe it comes with a front LSD if I'm not mistaken, it will understeer on tarmac but I can get the rear to swing out on wet surfaces.

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    3 жыл бұрын

    For a first car I don't recommend it, they are expensive to maintain and as for reliability they are bulletproof ONLY if they were taken care of by previous owner(s). I'm currently at 130,000km with no major issues except for the accessory belt auto tensioner which failed. In my opinion, buy a Toyota 86 or Subaru BRZ, probably the best first car out there, make sure you get a manual.

    Quickest way to 300 is to do a Evo X turbo swap. Exhaust manifold, turbo, downpipe, oil/coolant lines and intake. You can go all OEM if you can find the parts second hand. This would be the most cost-effective option as there are plenty of OEM parts around. Also have it tuned by either Kozmic if you're in the states or SJL if you're in Canada.

    I wouldn't, no. They are becoming more rarer and older, thus having higher mileage and also more than likely haven't been maintained properly (always an odd one out there that has been cared for and is in good shape, but definitely a needle in the haystack). Not to mention the higher costs of maintaining and servicing of the AWD system (SST, front transfer case, rear differential, etc). If you're willing and have the funds to do so, I won't dissuade you since I went in the same way, without a single thread of knowledge about the platform. There is a plethora of information out there in forums and Facebook groups that can help as well.

    Yes, all 2009+ Ralliarts come with the same engine as the Evo just with a TD04 turbo instead of the TD05. It all comes down to what you want, upgraded TD04 will only get you so far for power but will have incredible low to mid range. Going larger turbo, such as the TD05, is a great and cost effective option for more power since a they are easily purchasable second hand.

  • @torontotuners8218

    Wide open throttle, and I understand what you meant now. No, because of the increased load of shifting at such a high RPM, it is much better and safer to just let off the gas. No gas = no power being sent to the wheels. As far as I know, two stroke motors are very different from modern day engines.

    @@torontotuners8218 i dont know i never do this in my 200sx, i would feel bad if i do, i always push the clutch when i dont want to shift in next gear with high rpm, the gasolin also lubricates the part of your cylinder wall which the oil cant reach, and with no gas its running to dry when it goes with the high rpm connected to the transmission. Sorry for my english and good night from Germany Nice Car btw

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    Ah, its different because you're driving a manual, pushing in the clutch is the right thing to do. My car doesn't have a clutch pedal, it is a dual clutch transmission, so basically when I lift off the gas it disengages the clutches.

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    2 жыл бұрын

    Sorry, but you are absolutely wrong. The only parts of the SST that are prone to failure are the shift fork magnets and sensors, which should have been a warranty replacement that Mitsubishi should have covered since it was a costly fix for the owner. I never had a single issue with my SST, I only serviced it with OEM fluid, and it is still holding strong at 120,000km+, pushing a custom tune with over 300 torque to the wheels. The SST failures you hear about are the owners who use the completely wrong fluid, don't let it warm up properly before spirited driving, and complain when it fails on them, pouting that it's the car's fault and not theirs. The SST as a gearbox is very strong, as long as it is maintained and tuned CORRECTLY.

  • @oFiGuReZo

    @@torontotuners8218 I’m absolutely right. Like I said “Minor mods” 300 torque is very minor mods. You obviously didn’t understand my comment. Those are all part of the sst trans and like you said costly to fix. It’s just the facts that the sst is much weaker than the 5 speed trans and if you’re going make decent power the sst is going to be more costly. If you just want to do full exhaust, intake and a tune then sst is fine but start doing more power mods and you will run in to issues.

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, when it comes to handling torque the 5 speed is stronger than the SST, but that doesn't mean the SST isn't strong either. I believe the SST is rated to handle around 400 until slippage and gear lockout begins. You have to remember for it's time (2007), the SST was very advanced and new technology for a mass produced vehicle. For what it is, it's an incredible transmission, performing shifts in milliseconds especially if it's been properly tuned to maximize it's potential. It has its faults sure, but to call it weak is ignorant.

  • @torontotuners8218

    @torontotuners8218

    I should also mention having a competent tuner and tune makes all the difference. I never made a video on it, but I ended up having ID1050x's, a larger fuel pump (can't remember the displacement), and a new tune installed on my Ralliart prior to selling it. It was making serious power, and even after selling it, the new owner (who happens to be the guy who tuned it), went over the tune again and made even more power. Throwing mods at a Ralliart or Evo with the SST will make it worse without having the proper tune to tie it all together.

  • @oFiGuReZo

    @oFiGuReZo

    @@torontotuners8218 Having a good tune is with any car. Like I said if you want to stay under 400hp, which is minor mods then it’s fine but again it’s not strong compared to the 5speed. My point still stands.

    I'll be making a video on this soon enough but the short answer is that it's not worth it. I've made my Ralliart much MUCH faster than an Evo at a fraction of the cost. Also, reclinable rear seats, which the Evo doesn't have, it has saved me on numerous occasions. The Ralliart is an all around better daily driver, even the AWD system is better suited for the street than the Evo's. Watch the video comparing the two, it's very surprising. If I wanted a track car I would 100% build an Evo because that is what it's meant for.
