Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V | In Depth Walkthrough & Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

SOUNDCLOUD LINK: soundcloud.com/tigertronik
*This car is now SOLD*
This is my personal car. The legendary championship winning rally car driven by the famous Tommi Mäkinen. This is a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 5 GSR. The video speaks for itself.
Note: I tried to use Saabkyle's videos as a guideline. Please do not get offended if this video appears as a copy of his. I tried very hard to make this video in my own way. Saabkyle does not have access to wonderful JDM cars like this, since most of the JDM's imported to the states are over 25 years of age.
Cheers!

    Contemplating importing one of these or an Evo 4. Do you happen to remember what auction grade your Evo was and how much you imported for? There are Evo 4s going around for sweet prices lately and they're all grade 3 or 3.5. I would love to have an Evo 5 though. I find that the body style looks better.

  • @GT5DRAGS
    @GT5DRAGS11 жыл бұрын

    I was calling the overall car reliable when factoring in the transmission and diffs. I see you have an EVO 9, the EVO 5 has some minor issues with the diffs, mainly the AYC, and in that regard is less reliable, but the motor is bulletproof. And yes to some extent the RB26 is extremely reliable, although parts don't come cheap. There's nothing like the way the RB26 adds power with so few modifications.

    As for the RB26 . I have a r32 GTR and never ever had a problem . Now the R32 is over 20 years old so some things will have to be changed soon , normal wear . As for the RB26 , the only "Achilles heal" is the oil pump by way of the crankshaft . At very high RPM the oil pump slips of the crank's oil ring and bad things will happen. In general Thats about it when it comes to RB issues .

  • @GT5DRAGS
    @GT5DRAGS11 жыл бұрын

    I've never driven a BCNR33, but if I had to choose one, it would be an easy choice...the R33 GT-R. More reliable, wayyyy more tuning potential and that legendary roar of the RB26 takes it for me.

    There's always a way to get around the law..but the law does stand at 25 years in the States. Most people get a wrecked 240sx and when they import a skyline or a Silvia, they stick the VIN badge of the 240sx on the other car and basically claim that it is a 240 with a Skyline or Silvia body conversion. There's definitely ways around it, I'm not aware of them all, but this is one I hear about all the time.
